Renting out "non-resident guest" privileges?

On another thread, there was a discussion of giving friends access to Stormalong Bay by listing them as residents of one's room, and getting keys for them. Of course, this would be subject to the capacity controls of your unit -- so, if a family of four was staying in a 2 bedroom at BCV, they would be able to obtain keys for 4 "non-resident guests."

This got me thinking -- has anyone here ever considered renting out use of DVC perks, while not having the renter actually stay in your room? For example, if you and your spouse were staying in a 1 bedroom, two additional people are allowed in the unit, so theoretically one could rent out the remaining two room keys to another couple, which would allow them a free parking pass, DVC pool hopping privildeges, early entry, etc.

Of course, one would have to trust the renters not to decide to come into your room at 2 in the morning, since they'd have keys! (Or, one could request two new keys after delivering two keys to the "renters". )

Is there anything in DVC rules that would prohibit this, beyond the existing rules against renting out DVC points as a business?

I would not want strangers with the keys - first of all - this is down right dangerous.

yes you could immediately go and cancel your keys - but their keys would also be cancel - if some cases for DVC perks - the cashier will actually send the key through the machine - a cancelled key will not work.

if you don't cancel your key - from the front desk - they can learn which room you are staying - they already have your name (when you did the contract).

Sorry - but are you crazy!!!!

the only people I trust with my DVC keys are friends or family......

OUCH! Let me suggest that planning your next trip home (or the next several) might be a more productive use of your brain cells than theorizing on this topic. In the meantime, duck and cover!

If you have to "rent perks" maybe you can't afford to join DVC.

LOL!!! Like I've said before -- you never know what people will come up with next. Since you went ahead and posted this idea, I don't think you've really thought it through but there could be someone else out there who really is trying to see how they might "work this" to their personal advantage.

I highly doubt you'd find anyone willing to go through the hassle of making these arrangements and paying you for them. If someone were interested in this type of nefarious activity they'd just figure out how to sneak into the pool area (some folks still manage to do that).

It is clearly stated that once a member accepts monetary compensation for a reservation, the person using the reservation is no longer entitled to any DVC member perks. This is hard to enforce and most renters get the benefits -- however, if DVC suspected a scheme of renting just the benefits they would be able to quickly shut it down. Not only would you be opening your own room to possible risk by giving strangers keys, you'd be giving someone access to the entire resort without DVC having any record of who they were or where they were from. (Gee, wouldn't it be nice to help a pedophile or pickpocket gain access to the pool.)

This is just another example of how it's hard for Disney to be nice. They very often extend the privilege of letting hotel/DVC guests also "entertain" at their resort by inviting friends to join them Now, someone sees a way to possibly profit from that privilege. It's along the lines about people who lie about birthdays, anniversaries, even illness to see what Disney might give them -- folks always trying to play the system.

1. It's wrong

ITA. People get cranky about the cost of some activities ::cough MH cough::, but then others are out to wring as much $$$ as they can out of their DVC ownership. Hey, when my DW and I are at SSR this may, would anyone like to camp out in our unused parking space - reasonable prices!
