I'm a fairly new member (yippee!) I need help figuring out how to do this!

I have a March year use, so last October 2009 I banked my 2009 points into this year. I used all but * of those points this summer, and now have * points that expire on March 1, 2010.

Do I post these for rent? It looks like $10 is about the going rate, but does that mean I rent them to someone for $**? How does it work to transfer points to someone, and can I transer them since they are banked points? I'm kind of confused and I'd appreciate guidance because i don't want to do it wrong. Are there contracts to use?

Thanks!

You can not transfer banked points to another DVC Member's account. You can make a reservation in their name, using the banked points.

So yes, you can rent them, but you can not transfer them.

The rate is fully negotiable between you and the person to whom you rent the reservation, but yes, $10 seems to be the average rate. Some higher, some lower. depending upon individual circumstances.

Note that I had to remove the number of points from your above post to comply with our posting rules. We do not allow specific popint rental info to be posted anywhere except the rent/trade board.

A contract should include any cancellation or refund policy, or state if it is non-refundable, payment terms, method and dates, and that the reservation will be cancelled if those dates are not met.

And, I think, because you only have one post on the DIS, you won't be able to post them for rent on the DIS.

They can post "Points for Rent", but can not post an existing "Reservation for Rent" thread. Their personal messaging won't be activated until they hit 10 posts, except to contact DISboard staff.

With a March use year, your banked 2009 points will expire on the last day of February in 2011 - not March 1, 2010, which I assume was an error when you typed.
