We'll be renting a home in Windsor Hills in October and are wondering what types of supplies we need to bring with us. We're driving and will have plenty of room to bring things with us.

What's been the typical experience with renting homes? Obviously, we need to bring our own food, but what about toiler paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies? Should be bring extra towels and linens?

We're very excited - this will be our 4 year old twins first trip to WDW. Thanks for all your suggestions!

I guess every owner is different and you should probably try to get more specific info from the owner. We like to rent houses and condos and places with kitchens and keep a general list. We bring the paper items you listed, and soaps for the bathroom, dishes, and laundry. We always bring foil, saran, paper plates and napkins, and kitchen garbage bags. And don't forget your salt and pepper. The disposable ones you get at the supermarket should be fine.

We've never been asked to bring our own linens or towels. That would be a deal breaker for me. I hope you have a fantastic time with your family. :)

We have stayed in several 5/6 bedroom homes in the last couple of years. Our 1st there was one (yes ONE) wash cloth and 1 and 1/2 roll of toilet paper. Since then we have had better luck. I now always ask how many towels and wash cloths are available and bring my own paper products.

Typically you should get a roll of tp for each bathroom and a soap and perhaps a roll of kitchen paper also. There may be additional items depending on the owner and what their management company can provide.

Check with your owner to see what they supply.

First of all, you are going to have a great time at Windsor Hills! It is absolutely gorgeous! To answer your question, each owner and management company is different regarding the amount of supplies you have. Your towels and linens should be taken care of per FL law. Most management companies make sure the cleaners leave one roll of toilet paper per bath, a roll of paper towels, and usually a starter pack of dish soap for the dishwasher. Beyond that, it can vary greatly depending on who you are dealing with. A pack of Clorox wipes is handy to have to clean up quick spills, and I usually bring some zip lock bags. You should definitely have enough supplies for the first day however, and you can make a quick run to Super Target (just a few minutes away) or the sundry shop at Windsor Hills for more supplies. I'm from Ohio, and I have found the Super Target on 192 to have better prices than I can even get at home, so I usually buy my stuff when I get there. Enjoy your stay!!

A note about the towels...

Our contract with the owner actually specifies that towels and linens are provided, however they are not allowed to leave the premises. In other words, we need to bring our own towels for the waterparks and resort pool.

Most owners leave as said above initial toilet paper for each bathroom, a roll of paper towel, initial hand soap in each bathroom, sometimes a one load small box of tide, and a few garbage bags but it does vary from owner to owner; usually these items are left from the cleaning service as part of the contract. Other guests often leave items under the sink so there could be other items left or some owners supply extras.

You definitely want to take with you since you are driving or purchase at the store once you arrive some napkins and tissues, extra toilet paper, extra paper towel, laundry detergent, dish detergent, dishwasher tablets or powder, extra trash bags (they usually leave a few), storage bags, and your personal items of course. We also bring a bottle of wine for the evening we arrive and our coffee and supplies for the next morning!

If you just want to purchase items down there you can take what you need til you get to the store, that's what we do. There are several Publix stores nearby, Walmart, Super Target, etc. So if you want to wait and assess what is there, then you will know exactly what you need. Often time you'll find things like salt, pepper, spices, teas from previous guests and again, some owners supply.

Most villas with pools supply beach towels and there should be two sets of towels per person and extra set of sheets for each bed. This seems to be at least the standard and some owners will have more.

You will love Windsor Hills! Have a great vacation!
