we want to rent a studio at the Poly resort from December 7-16th 2017. We rented Points this past September but can't remember when I booked it. Should you book right at the 11 month window or can it wait to 8-9 months?

Early December is peak DVC booking. It is much easier to book September than December. I would look for a home resort owner who is willing to book before 7 months. I would not rely on either another declaration or a 7-month booking.

I would expect PVB to be available at 7 months, but only for a few minutes. I think you'd be fine as long as you have someone lined up to book immediately when the window opens.

These are the same dates we go each year. I don't own at Poly so I have tried to book a studio for the last 2 years for those dates right at 8am at 7 months, and both years, even with a waitlist, was not able to get all the dates. We ended up doing a split stay last year & are doing it again starting on Saturday! Early Dec. is the busiest DVC time as someone else mentioned above. So from my experience, if you must stay at Poly, you need to have a Poly owner ready to go at the 11-month point to book for you. If you don't mind a split stay, you can wait. Enjoy!

At 7 months, it's all about how fast your connection communicates versus the other people trying to book. I don't think just having an owner lines up who is willing to be online at 7 months is sufficient, for that reason, in high season.

I know my experience for October this year was like that, and early- and mid-December are generally even higher demand (my October dates did not include the holiday).

I was able to book that time in December for this year at the 7 month mark, right at 8:00 am. I checked a little later and all the studios were gone :)

As others have said, the 7 month mark requires an online presence precisely at the opening of the site for booking and a little luck. Since you are renting points, you would have to get double lucky to find an owner willing to schedule themselves to making such a booking.

I would definitely find a PBV owner to book at 11 months, and ask them to do that exactly at the 11 month mark. As was pointed out by a previous poster, you are looking for one of the peak DVC booking times of the year. Good luck! :)

Thanks for the info. I rented through davids last time. Are there chances I can find someone through a search post?

You will just have to keep an eye out on the rent/trade board and reply when someone posts they have PVB points.

I will add that I don't think it has to be 11 months to the day to get PVB studio if you're having difficulty finding an owner. There aren't a lot that rent there but timing is everything. As long as your closer to 11 months than 7 months I think it's likely to be open.

Agreed. I don't think it's "panic on the 11 month date," but I do think that if you have to rely on a 7-month booking you'll want a fallback plan.

Thank you!

What's a good rate to trade at? The company i used last time was a little more expensive.

For an 11 month booking, brokers will charge $16-16.50. Private bookings know this, and will undercut a little, but also know that the brokerages are always trying to find Poly points and have a hard time delivering 11 month bookings at Poly, and will generally charge $15-17.
