renting DVC pts and adding ddp?

I'm not sure which forum this question belongs in, but I'm hoping someone here on the DIS can help. I'm renting DVC points for our stay in September. I know I'm not eligible for the free dining that is going on during that time, but I'm wondering if it's possible for me BUY the DDP? If so, how do I do it? Can I add it on by calling after the reservations are changed to my name or does the owner have to make the purchase? Or is it not allowed at all?

You can't add or modify the reservation in any way. You'll need to ask the member to add it to your reservation.

DVC has stated that they are going to payment for the Dining plan when it is added to the reservation instead of payment at check-in. So if DVC asks the member to provide a credit card number, the member may decide not to add it and you wouldn't be able to add the plan unless you give the member a credit card number or pay the member ahead of time for the plan. It must be added at least 48-72 hours before the start of the reservation.

It depends on when you are going if the new policy on 'Pre-pay for DDP' has taken effect.

We also are renting points and have had the DVC Owner add the DDP to our reservation. We will pay for it on check in. It's easy and a great deal. Just check with the owner from who are are renting. They will find out if you need to pay now or on check it.

Right now, the owner can add the DDP to the reservation and you will pay at check in.

The new policy of paying when it is added has not yet gone into effect. I believe it is slated for this fall.
