Renting DVC Points

Just a quick question, which I have also posted on the DVC board......I have rented points before and plan to do so again for our 2005 trip. Does anyone know if you are able 'link' a cash reservation for 1 or 2 nights and continue to stay in the same room on a reservation using DVC points?

I am unsure of our arrival date by a day or two. If we are able to come a day or two earlier than what we arrange with DVC points, I would like to make a reservation through CRO for a night or two, then continue our stay on our points reservation without changing rooms.

You guys all have such great information, I am just hoping someone has some experience with a similar situation. Thanks!

I believe you can request that they be linked but there is no guarantee you won't have to move. For the most part, people have posted positive reports about being able to keep the same room.

It worked out for us for the past 2 years at OKW. They were really good about it. One of the dates fell into the week of Thanksgiving.

That is good to know. Our dates are the weekend after Thanksgiving and the following week.............

We had no p[roblem doing that at the BCV. We just told them we had continuing reservations and we just had to come down to the desk and get the new cards. Very easy.

I have only ever read one thread on someone who had to move for their cash ressie. From the replies, that appeared to be a very rare occurance.

I've rented points multiple times. We also always have at least one or two cash nights before or after our stay on points. At OKW and WLV, we didn't have to move OR get new cards. However, we did have to get new cards at BWV....instead of having to appear at the front desk, they slid our bill and new cards under the door in the wee hours of the a.m. -- they don't normally do this, so I thought this was very nice gesture. :)

I have cash nights booked for both weekends at the beginning and end of my points stay at BCV's in the upcoming weeks. I ultimately ended up booking cash thru DVC with a member discount but originally checked out all the info. on if I were to book thru CRO with an AP or FL res. discount code as well.

I was told by both DVC member services and CRO that if I did make ressies with both points and cash to have both MS and CRO make extensive notes on the ressie that I had a ressie with both and to try and keep me in the same room. They cannot actually link the ressie but they can try and keep you from having to move. They also said to reiterate this all at check in. I was told that the worse that can happen of course would be to have to be moved but that it wasn't likely - what may be likely is having to go down to the front desk to check out and then back in again - getting new room cards and such but you wouldn't be out of your room if they didn't have to move you, they'd just have to re-issue new room cards.

So, that's basically how it was explained to me.

Since I booked the cash nights thru MS with the DVC discount they CAN link the ressies and it's no longer an issue for me but hope the info. I had gathered helps you out;)

It can be very seamless with the exception of BWV. Since there are three different room categories, and with the BW view category assured for DVC members, if you have a BW view room booked, you will have to move. Otherwise, you'd probably have no problems. Just let the member who you rent from your CRO reservation number so it can be noted on the DVC reservation.
