I wasn't sure where to post this, we're making plans to go back to disney in October of 2015. It's going to be 6 adults and DS (3 at the time) and we're thinking of renting a 2 bedroom villa, but no sure which resort. so I need some suggestions, also where do you recommend for us to rent points through? thank you

DVC members can make reservations at their home resort 11 months ahead of the arrival date and at other resorts 7 months in advance - all based on availability.

2BR villas will all have a King Bed in the master, either 2 queens or a queen and sleep sofa in the 2nd BR and a sleep sofa (and some also have a sleeper chair) in the living room. The configuration depends on the resort. The master bath will have a jacuzzi tub. There will be a full kitchen and a washer/dryer in the villa.

You should check out the DVC Rent/Trade Board here on the DIS - you can post a request in any of the threads where a member is offering to make reservations for others (usually titled "Points for Rent") or consider renting through a service like www.DVCrequest.com - a DIS advertiser.

2BR villas are plentiful at all resorts, but the earlier you know which resort you'd prefer it would be best to start looking for someone to make your reservation. Your dates will not be available to reserve until November, 2014 at the earliest. If your dates are around Thanksgiving, the earlier the better as that time does book up. If earlier in the month, reserving at 11 months is not quite as important.

Be sure to review the "**How to use this Board - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING**" thread near the top of the Rent/Trade Board for some helpful suggestions about renting from a member.

Enjoy! :)

I guess the best thing to consider is where would you like to be? Close to MK, EP etc. From there look at those resorts and see which one fits your bill best. If you "want what you want" then try to rent points from someone that, that resort is their home resort so you can book at the 11 month window. If you really are not that concerned for the location, sooner is better but you don't have to be as concerned. SSR and OKW are generally plentiful. If you really want VWL, it's a smaller resort with less options. Newer resorts fill faster too. Also consider the amenities of the resort. Are you going commando or do you want to relax at your resort. Are you counting on Disney transportation or are you driving. Lastly, different times of the year use less or more points. Look at the calendar, SSR and OKW use less points then BLT. There's a lot to consider when choosing a resort. Make your list of priorities then find the resort that has the most you are looking for. Good luck!

thank you for the replies, location for us doesn't really matter, AKL and SSR seem to be within our budget. so we have to wait until November to book if we plan to go in October? am I correct?

If you get the 11 month window, yes. The owner of the points has to own enough points for your entire stay at that resort. Some people have smaller contracts at different places. You lose the 11 month window if you don't have enough points at that resort for the whole stay.

If you don't mind location and it's within budget, I would go with AKV Kidani 2 bedroom lock-off because you will have 3 bathrooms, which is a tremendous help with getting ready in the mornings!

As far as where to rent, I prefer to save a few dollars and go through a private DVC owner either on Dis or one other board I am not allowed to mention. We have rented many, many times (always doing our homework of course) and have had nothing but great experiences. Most private owners at AKV will rent for $11-12 ($12 being more common lately) as opposed to the $14 charged by the brokers.

We have rented points with David's Rental for an up coming trip to Disneyland. It has been a great experience so far, and even making a couple changes to our reservation was really easy. We wanted to stay at the Grand Californian, but it was just too expensive. We ended up being able to rent a studio at the GCV for a little less than a standard room at the Paradise Pier. Our actual stay isn't until Sept, so I can't comment about renting points completely, but so far I would do it again.

As for WDW, we stayed in a 2BD villa at SSR last summer with 5 adults and 2 kids. It was perfect. They have a great toddler splash area in the Paddock area pool that our 3 year old LOVED! For us, a pool is important because we go back to the hotel in the afternoon for a break and swim. The little splash area had small water slides just perfect for little ones. My 3 year old was so proud he could go down the water slides by himself. As for renting points, if Disney is having a 35% off at the time you want to go, I would just pay out of pocket. With that big of a discount, it isn't that much more than renting points, and then you have the safety of canceling if need be, and also won't have to put the whole price of the hotel up front.

Good luck!
