Renting DVC points(sorry i know this is ALWAYS asked)

Slightly different question on the same theme......

The escape package requires the bride and groom to stay 4 nights in a Disney hotel. If the couple were to rent DVC points for at least 4 nights......does this fulfill the requirement? Or does the couple have to book through Disney?

Thanks! This board is a wealth of information.

It doesn't matter how you book your Disney stay. As long as you have a reservation number to prove you're staying 4 days at Disney, you're fine. :thumbsup2

i don't want to rent a vehicle... just use disney transportation for my whole trip (except when i get the limo service for the wedding). so if i only want to stay in a dvc hotel for a few nights and then move to POR... can i get by with just disney transportation? will they let me bring my luggage on the bus? do the busses even stop at the DVCs?

As previous posters have said, Disney will transfer your luggage to the next Disney hotel for free—just be prepared to be without it for a while. They say something like 4 hours, but it could be longer.

do i still get to stay for extra magic hours even though the dvc reservation isn't under my name? will i get a keycard to the world with a dvc? will it have my tickets on it even if i buy them seperately from my point rentals?

The DVC reservation will be in your name. :thumbsup2 You will get all the same privileges as any other resort guest (but not DVC privileges like free Internet access): Extra Magic Hours, use of Disney transportation, Key to the World card for charging purchases, etc. Your tickets will not be on it, though, because that only happens when you buy a vacation package with room + tickets.

Hope this makes it less confusing! :goodvibes

Carrie, thanks for the info about transferring luggage. I must admit that I wondered whether they did this!! I will leave our luggage and skidaddle offto the parks for the day. Later in the day when we check in, maybe our luggage will be waiting for us!!

Thanks! That really cleared up alot of my confusion. And it's nice to know they will transfer the luggage so I could check out of DVC, take a bus to Downtown Disney to eat a meal and maybe shop a bit, then take a ferry boat to POR and check in.

PrincessTinker11 and lurkyloo definitely summed up well!
Just wanted to combine 2 things they said - you can get the dining plan (QS, "regular, or deluxe; just not premium at this time) without having the by the complete package (room, park tix, and dining plan together). The dining plan credits would be attached to your KTTW card. The member you rent from would add the dining plan onto your DVC reservation; it does have to be paid for in full at the time the member calls to add it (so they will likely want this full amount up front) and it has to be added at least 48 hours before check-in. The other thing with renting a DVC reservation is that you don't have to have the dining plan for your entire stay (at non-DVC and DVC resort), but only add it on for the DVC part of your stay.

Hopefully that makes sense, if not ask more ??'s here or PM me. If you haven't already check out the sticky threads on the DVC board and become familiar with all you can about renting a DVC reservation.

Good luck!
