For those of you who rent your DVC points, how do you work with your renters to add the dining plan? My family rents points & last time it was so easy as we just paid at check-in. With it now having to be paid for in advance, it complicates things.

Just want to see how others handle this.

You could purchase a Disney Gift Card (or any GC with Visa/MasterCard/AMEX/Discover logo) for the amount of the dining plan. You would give the owner the numbers off the card (or even send them the card) and they would use that to pay for it.

We rented points to friends last year. They wanted the Dining Plan, so I called him, then conferenced in Member Services and we had a 3-way call. I verified who I was as the owner, told them I wanted to add the Dining Plan, and then my friend paid for it using his credit card right there over the phone. It was very simple. Another option for you, if you can coordinate the time to call with your owner! Of course, it did help that our family's are close friends, as he wasn't worried that I was going to abscond with his credit card number. But if you trust the owner in all of the ways you need to trust them for the reservation, then reading the card out loud may not be an issue for you.

This is where purchasing a Gift Card for the exact amount of the Dining Plan eliminates this worry.

I am not a renter but when we rented from someone this is what they did as well.

I also include the dining option in the contract I use to rent. It has never been a problem. Having it in the contract just makes sure there are no misunderstandings. Although, I have not rented points since the rules changed regarding payment. :)

Good luck with your rental experience. You will find most people here on the DIS very easy to work with.

You can get Disney Gift Cards from various places and the Disney store does sell Disney gift cards (as well as Disney store gift cards as previously posted). You can buy them online, or find a friend who needs scrip for their kids school. We just did this and our $1000 Disney gift card gave our daughter's school $20 (and cost us the same)..it was a lot easier than a ton of numbers to just give one to DVC.
