Renting at VGC - Viewing Reservation

If I rent DVC points at a WDW resort, I can link that reservation to MDE. How can I link / view a Grand Californian reservation? It looks like the reservation number that the Disneyland site looks for is 8 characters but DVC reservation numbers are longer.

Disneyland's system isn't like WDW's. Even booking an onsite resort through disneyland.com doesn't yield what we see on WDW's site.
 
Also not sure if you can view the reservation since it's a DVC rental. I know that when I have rented out my GVC points I can see it when I login but it is displayed differently than other resorts. Are you just wanting to make sure it's correct or why are you wanting to view it?

Did you ever figure out a way to view this reservation?I am having same issue, and seems like there may not be a way for non-dvc members to view DVC reservations at GCV.
 
Are you just trying to confirm the reservation was booked? If so, you can easily call the front desk of the Grand Californian & they will confirm it for you. They of course wouldn't make any changes, but they would confirm for you. You used to be able to look them up on MDE like a any WDW reservation, but that won't work anymore. That's probably for the best though because it didn't necessarily show the right dates.

Perfect, thanks! Mostly just want to make sure I can confirm this reservation myself, but also making sure this is how it's supposed to be -- that there's nothing funny with the reservation. Thanks!
 
We rented at VGC three years ago now and it was the same way. It was my first time renting and I was concerned about the reservation too. I called the front desk to confirm 60 days out, when I made my dining reservations. I also had trip insurance, which I would recommend whenever renting points (just one of the reasons we eventually bought). It's amazing to me that this hasn't changed in all this time.
