Hi everyone! I'm new to the site, but a friend of mine was talking about renting out others timeshares at Grand Californian?? How do you go about that?

If you Google "renting DVC" you should find several sites. I'm not sure which ones we are allowed to mention here.

But keep in mind, there aren't many DVC rooms there and they go fast. So you really need to try to find a rental 11 months in advance.

If you look you can find the rent/transfer board. People will list their DVV points that they want to rent, you need to be active on the boards so you can message when you see grand California come up. Also GC and VGC, I have been seeing those points show up for rent for $24/point. Other Disney world properties some were between 17-19/point. Grand California is a very hard property to rent. Your best best is to deal directly with someone who has the points. I put a request with DVC rental but it took so long I found someone through this board. I have now done 4 transactions. All were wonderful.

I've done this 5 times, 3 for WDW and 2 at VGC. One of the times I found someone to rent from on another forum site but the other 4 I have used someone I found through the DVC boards here. It can be really hard to get GCV bookings even 11 months out and almost impossible at 7 months.

Grand Californian is AMAZING and some of the rooms are wonderful. But at Grand Californian there are only about 50 DVC rooms, TOTAL, compared to about 750 rooms at Old Key West and 1300 rooms at Saratoga Springs and Animal Kingdom. The rest of the Grand Californian is strictly hotel rooms.

So, you can guess from this that actually being able to RESERVE it is practically impossible, if you don't own there. And you MIGHT be able to rent one of those rooms through this board or through a rental agency, but it just isn't that common or that easy.

Obviously, renting SOONER rather than later helps a bit, but there just aren't a lot of rooms

When I have stayed there, we used a TON of points to rent a hotel room.
