Renting additional points

I will be 64 points short for a reservation, even after borrowing. How does renting/transferring points work? I've rented before, but for the whole amount of points, so I'm not sure how it works to book most of the stay on my points, and part on rented points. TIA!

You have several options:

1. Book what you can with your points. Pay cash for the remaining nights. If you can do that through MS, your reservation will appear to the resort as one continuous DVC stay. If you go through CRO/DRC, you will need to put a note on pboth reervations indicating a continuing stay & a desire to stay in the same room.

2. Book what you can with your points. Rent a reservation from another member (or broker) for the remaining nights. Put a note on your reservation and ask the owner of the other reservation to do the same. Again, it should say that this is a continuing reservation and you want to stay in the same room.

3. Book what you can with your points. Find another member willing to transfer points to your account Be sure the points you receive are valid for the dates you want to stay. Then book the entire reservation from your account. You will probably have to call MS to use the transferred points (they only show in your account if they are for the same resort & use year as your points). You are allowed one transfer per use year per membership either into your account or out of it but not both in the same use year. For that reason, you may need to accept more points than you need - most who are looking to transfer points want to get rid of a specific amount.

P.S. You could also buy more points. Timing may be an issue if you go resale & DVD's inventory an issue if you go direct (depending on the resort you want).
