Review Renting a timeshare from owner direct

How do I go about doing this? I am timeshare illiterate & with a family of 6, I'm thinking this is our best option. Thank you!

You could try a number of different methods. Some of those are...

- Go to ebay and do a search on Orlando (or Disney) timeshare rental, there are usually at least a couple dozen offered timeshare rentals for various periods;
- Go to www.redweek.com, click on the Find a Timeshare link and then on the Timeshare Rentals pop-down, do a search on the term Greater Orlando and you should finds dozens of rental opportunities;
- Go to the classifieds section of the Timeshare Users Group website, www.tug2.net, from the home page click on the Timeshare Marketplace button, scroll down to the For Rent Ads section (on the right) and click on Florida-Gulf Coast/Orlando link where there may be a few hundred offerings;
- there are other sites that offer timeshare rentals: companies working as brokers for owners, other timeshare bulletin boards with classified sections such as www.timeshareforums.com.
- or you could just do a general Google search on Orlando Timeshare Rentals and wade through the thousands of sites that that returns.

One additional note to Dick's response. TUG also has a timeshare wanted area. If you know specifically the resort and/or date you want to travel, place a rental wanted ad. I needed an extra unit for a family reunion and posted there; I had several responses within hours! I was able to pick and choose the best location and price. You will need to join to post; a few dollars, but you'll make it back on the rental. If you decide you like the lifestyle, spend a few weeks reading the Tug BBS for an indepth education of what timeshares are all about, especially BEFORE you EVER say yes to a developer sales offer!!!

There are a lot of great resorts in the Orlando area, so pick carefully! Enjoy your vacation...
