Hi, We have extended family coming to Orlando for a family wedding. The couple live in Orlando and family pre-wedding party will be in Altamonte Springs and the wedding will be in Northeast Orlando, about 40 minutes away from Disney at the couple's home (lovely large back yard). Their home is about 35 minutes away from Universal, and about 35 minutes away from SeaWorld -- not in the resort area. Still I am very tempted to get one of those nice large vacation homes, so all the extended family staying in can be there together. There will be 11 of us, so a six bedroom house would be perfect. Downtown Orlando would only be 11 minutes away, but alas the reasonable rentals with amenities we like are all near Disney. I was thinking Windsor Hills (39 minute drive to their place) just as that has been mentioned on the forum many times, but am open to suggestions. I want to stay around/under $250 or so a night and saw lots of options at and under that price at Windsor Hills on VRBO and like it that they have tennis courts, movie theatre, and public pool too, but we will pay the extra for pool heat for the house. And that price can be before fees, insurance, pool heat, extra charges for a grill etc.

Anyway, are there other communities that you would suggest I look in too? Do you think Windsor Hills would be a decent choice? I have a property in mind there. As for activities we won't be doing all that much at the parks -- one day at Disney, one day at SeaWorld, and will hit the Titanic attraction on I-drive one day. Although we will be in town for 7-9 days, we are mostly doing family activities vs. parks, and we'll be playing a lot of tennis and doing some a pool / hot tub hanging out too. Ages of family 22, 28, 28, 33, 35, 55, 56, 57, 64, 82, and 82.

We are big fans of Windsor Hills. There are many lovely 6 bedrooms homes that would meet your needs and the benefit for you is the resort's close proximity to the I4 on ramp. I think you will be very pleased with the resort and it's amenities.

On a side note, we have done the Titanic exhibit and it was very disappointing. From what I recall, most items on display are replicas. I believe that that they actually only have 1 authentic piece from the titanic and it's a hunk of steel or a chunk of a propeller blade (something like that..)

Thanks so much ParkHopperFan. Great to hear positives about Windsor Hills. I was amazed at the number of six bedroom homes we had to choose from and the reasonable prices too. Anyway, I went ahead a reserved a house there that I think will work great for our group.

Orange county does not allow short term rentals.
that say Seminole County does have short term rentals.

you realize that I4 is a mess right now and will probably be for a couple of more years - I would definitely ask your wedding couple what they think - believe me you don't want to get stuck in one of the changes on I4.

Another vote for Windsor Hills! Stayed there many times. Beautiful resort, great amenities, affordable, and perfect location.

We have enjoyed Windsor Hills, but lately have been preferring Champions Gate-to be fair, it is a further drive from the parks so that is the downside, but it has a great communal pool with a lazy river and such and nice atmosphere.
