hello. In August a whole bunch of family going to Disney. My Aunt Has a rare disease called tuberous sclerosis she is actually waiting on a lung transplant. so she is going to need a scooter, hoping that she makes it down with us we were wondering what options she will have for renting one. She has one at home but would rather not lug it down to FL, (we are in NY) unless she needs to. I know we can rent it from Disney, is it a good option, will she be guaranteed to have it everyday and if we park hop will we have one at the next park?? Is there an outside company that will bring one to her at the resort for the week and pick it up at the end? we just really need to know that she will have one everyday because with her lungs being so weak she can't walk for very long before she is short of breath and feels very tired.

Does Disney have a special needs line?

Any info, phone numbers, websites, past experiences you've had would be a great help. This is her first time traveling with such bad health and even tho she has the OK from the doctor as long as she visits him the week before we go, she wants to make sure shes prepared for everything.

Thanks a ton for your help. :goodvibes

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including Post #2 for people with mobility/stamina situations and where people rent ECVs. You might also look in Post #3 for specific needs. Once you have done this, please ask specific questions

And, if you are flying, why not bring it along? I travel several times a year by air and bring my own ECV on the aircraft. This will allow her to have it all the way to the door of the plane. The airlines are not allowed to charge for any medical equipment that is brought along.

Or, if you want an easier route to the FAQs, click on the link in my signature.

I agree with Cheshire about bringing the scooter if you are flying. I also fly with mine and it is not that big of a deal to do.

She can drive it all the way to the door of the plane and when you land it will be brought back to the door of the plane for her.
