Renting a House vs Hotel in LA County

Hi all,

I did a quick search for a topic similar to this, and didn't come up with much, but apologies if this is redundant.

There's a group of four friends who are taking a week out in Cali in the beginning of October this year. Originally it was just three of us, so I had started to look into hotels that offer a little more space. Then another friend of ours decided she was interested in coming with. After coming across an old confirmation email from the last time we were in Florida, from a house rental we used, it got me thinking about alternatives to hotels.

I started doing some research on VRBO for homes, since I had used it two previous times for house rentals in Florida with quite a bit of success. I've found some nice ones, but I'm just curious if there's a huge difference between house renting in California to that of Florida. It seems like it'd be a better option for four of us. More space, the ability to spread out more and not drive each other insane, plus we can do breakfast ourselves, and pack some lunches for the beach and whatnot.

We're doing the typical SoCal tourist things. Disneyland, Universal, studio tours, going out to see the nightlife. But we also want to do an overnighter in Vegas as well, which I'm not sure is going to be conducive to renting a house either.

If anyone has any tips or experience that'd be insanely appreciated. :)
