Hi to everyone!!

In August my family is going on our first vacation to WDW.

My question is about the frigs that you can rent for your room {we're staying at the All Star Movies}. Have they been worth the extra $10.64 {I have read that is tax included}?

While at Wal mart my husband saw a Coleman travel size frig and we have been thinking about getting one of them and just cancelling the frig that we were going to rent. It seems by the time we rent one, we could have just purchused one of these Coleman's.

As anyone had any experinces with these Coleman frigs? If you have taken one with you, did you take it to your room and was it really hard to get it there? I told my husband I wanted to check with you guys before buying.

Thanks!!
Ronna
{Going to be in WDW 8/9 - 8/13} Just realized that is Friday the 13th..... :earseek:

While we have never rented or brought a fridge, you should be ok bringing your own at the all star resorts, even if you can't park close to your room, you should be able to get your car close enough where it's not too far from your room to at least move it in/out. I would not want to think about bringing one in at most of the other hotels since they are inside hallways and some people may wonder why you are bringing in a fridge but wonder even more as you took it out.

I guess it would come down to how you are getting to FLorida. if you are driving then you can get it before you go and/or bring it home with you. If your going to buy it once your there, and not take it home, where will it end up?

Others have brought thier own, and if you can get more use out of it on another trip then go for it I would say.

If you are talking about the Coleman Roadtrip thermoelectric cooler(@$63 at walmart), we are happy with ours. I purchased it a few months ago, and used it over Easter at WDW.

You can also jut get a cheap styrofoam cooler from the grocery store when you arrive and ziplock bags to hold the ice so there is no leaking and you'll be set. We've done that in the past and it works out really well.

We love ours. We used it at All Stars and we also took a cooler on wheels. We made sandwiches everyday in our room. The extra room of the other cooler gave us adults room for a bottle of wine. We had a blast..
We also use ours camping though so we really have gotten our money's worth.

Have fun :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I have an Igloo thermoelectric cooler. We've had it for years and have taken it on many trips, Disney included. We love it. It lets us keep stuff cold on the road and in our hotel. It is not heavy - easy to transport.

I think the $10 to rent a fridge is insane since the things only sell for about $70. What a racket that is.

I've often wondered how many folks arrive in Orlando, stop at WalMart or Target, buy a mini-fridge and return it before they go home. I'm not suggesting that, of course, but I'm willing to bet people have done it.

We went in the end of March and drove so we brought some easily fixed items mainly for breakfast, and a cooler seemed to work quite nicely. We just made sure we put fresh ice in it everyday, which cost nothing because it came from the resort ice maker. But, when we were checking out I saw a man loading his car to leave also and they had brought a mini fridge and a small microwave. So, I think it would be ok if you brought your own, or maybe even a stove if you can haul that too!! :teeth: just kiddin!! Have a wonderful trip!

Not sure if this was mentioned or not, but if anyone in the family needs to refrigerate medicine, there is no fee for the frig.

Have a good time!

Thanks to all for responding!

With reading the post we have decied to buy our own {Coleman for Wal mart} and cancel the one that we were going to rent. We go to alot of places around the state {Ohio} so it will come in really handy with having two kids.

No one in our family needs the frig for meds, so that is out. We were going to rent one cause our son LOVES to drink milk. That can be a good thing and a bad thing.....LOL!!!! For being almost 8 years old the top of his head is hitting right under my chin, and I am 5' 6", and then the price of milk.:earseek:

We tried one time to put milk in a cooler, but the water from the ice got into it and our son through a fit cause it tasted horrible. This way with a frig he can't complain. I know how he is and even if I put it in a bag while in a cooler, he would say water got in it and not drink it. LOL!!!

Microwave is a good idea, but ours is way to big and there is no way my DH will let me buy a little one for the trip...Oh well!!! LOL!!

Thanks again!!!

Thanks for all the info !

I have a cooler that looks like a big carryon with wheels. I think this is enough for our needs.

My parents might have some meds that need to be chilled, so we will request a fridge for their room.

I love this message board !
