Thanks to everyone who replied to me and gave me tips about car rental discounts.

But, what I really want to know and hear from are people who:

- Arrived at WDW (getting from the airport to the resort without a rental car)
- checked into their resort
- Then decided to rent a car while they were already on-site at WDW and checked into their resort

Has anyone done this and have any tips to share about while already staying in WDW and onsite in your resort renting a car information?

Thanks!

Yes, and there is a car care center with rentals right on property. It's been awhile, and I don't remember for sure, but I think it was National.

I've done this, but had a reservation thru National (so I had the best rate I could get). I always use the National desk in the lobby of the Dolphin since it's easily accessible from either Epcot or MGM via walking/boat. Their hours are 8am-4pm daily.

HTH!!! :teeth:

We rented National and pick up/drop off was at the Car Care Center. A van picked DH up at OKW HH and dropped off there on car return. It was very easy.

Unless you're planning to use Disney's Magical Express for free airport transportation, you might consider renting a car at the airport and returning it a day later at the Car Care Center or the Dolphin. You'll get the car for the full 24 hours, and can run your errands either later in your arrival day or the next morning before returning.

We've returned a car at the Dolphin before. It's very simple--you just leave your car with the valet and you're done. You can either hop on a theme park bus at the Dolphin to meet up with your guests, or walk to Epcot or MGM.

If you are seriously considering renting mid-trip, I'd try to reserve something ahead of time with discount codes. You'll pay a lot more if you just walk up to the desk and accept their prevailing rate.

We are using a combination of ME and rental cars. Yes, cars. My 2 sons have each reserved cars at the Dolphin/National and we are using one as well. We are staying at the BCV's, an easy walk or short boat ride away. We have family we will visit and a few things to do off properity.

Wow! Great replies!!!!:Pinkbounc

This is EXACTLY the information I was looking for! We are planning on takin ME from and to the airport.

It's great that National is onsite. I have some vouchers that might just get me the car for nothing.

This would be the best of all possible worlds, not having to drive from and to the airport and having a car on site.

Thanks everyone!

Here's another possibility... some of the rental car companies have desks in the hotels down the street from Downtown Disney. Last year, we rented a car at the end of our WDW trip, so that we could go visit family who live on the Gulf coast. We got the best deal from Dollar, which was in the Hilton (I think, or the Hyatt, sorry I get them confused). But it was a quick walk over from DTD. Just a thought
