What kind of car or van can you rent that will hold 2 adults, 3 teenagers, and an 8 year old, along with their luggage? That is 6 people and luggage that will need to travel approximately 10 hours. Any suggestions on companies?

Not sure about what kind of car, but I'd guess a mini van or SUV. We used Priceline bidding to rent a car on our last trip to WDW. Price was decent, though my mother got suckered in to purchasing the extra insurance so it ended up being around the same price of renting directly from a company.

A mini van might be a little on the small side for six people and luggage. How about a Surburban or a regular size van. We rented a regular size van that seated seven people. There were three adults, two teens and two pre-teens in the van. And there was plenty of room behind the third seat for all of our luggage. We drove quite a bit farther than you, approximately 20 hours and it was comfortable.

We've done it with our Honda Odyssey before (2 adults, 4 teens). You just have to set a limit on luggage for each person. We asked the kids to use duffel type bags rather than hardsided luggage and to bring only one piece. They were able to bring one other tote with them with stuff for traveling.

Whatever you try, just be sure to CAREFULLY read the fine print. Some companies will not allow you to take the vehicle more than a certain number of miles from the origin station, or sometimes even across state lines.

You can rack up some pretty hefty surcharges if you have a clause like that in the contract and don't notice it when you take it out.

Thanks, everybody. I even miscounted. It may even be 4 teenagers and an 8 year old, along with the 2 adults. We'll see what we can do. I will definitely have to check into the mileage rules, too! Thanks, again.

Go with a heavy duty SUV. We have an 8 passenger Yukon and even that is going to be pushing it with that many people plus luggage. It will be cramped a bit.

Bags will have to be duffle to stack or put on the floor at the feet of the kids.

I am sure you will have a big cooler in the back which will eat space but I consider it a necessity myself. It will cut costs on snacks/drinks for that many teens so you can buy in bulk.

We have driven three times now to Disney and I always rent a Toyota Sienna Van. I just go right to a Toyota dealership, no problems at all and get unlimited miles :thumbsup2 You may have to get one of those luggage thingy mabobs for the top for extra suitcase storage, there was only 4 of us so we had plenty of room.
Have Fun!!!
