i was just curious, we are flying in the day before our cruise and staying at the courtyard by the airport, would it be beneficial to rent a car to drive for the evening or just find somewhere close to walk to.

If you rent a car the night before, you might as well drive that car to Port Canaveral the next day. You'll save the cost of Disney bus transfers or a towncar service. Just make sure to reserve the car as a one-way rental and that you choose a class of car that can hold all of luggage.

For a list of rental car companies that have offices within a few miles of the port, see http://www.dcltribte.com

Before our first Disney Cruise, we arrived around 1:00 p.m. on the day before the cruise. We rented a Hertz car, checked in at Marriott's Cypress Harbour near Sea World, drove to a restaurant and Downtown Disney, returned to the Marriott. The next day, we drove to the port. I checked our luggage at curb, and I dropped of my wife and kids (with their cruise documents). I kept only my carry-on luggage and cruise documents. I returned the car at Hertz in Cocoa Beach. (Hertz has since moved closer to the port.) Hertz drove me back to ship, where I met my family at Topsiders.

It worked well.

Before our cruise this year, we didn't rent a car. we arrived the evening before, and stayed at a hotel near the airport. The next moring we had a townar service take us to the port.

That worked well too.
