Renting a car near Universal PLEASE HELP

Hi, I am going to Orlando for 13 nights. We are first going to Universal and staying at RPR for 3 nights. We are then going to ASMO for 10 nights. We need room for 5 people in a vehicle. The cheapest way I found was to take a cab from the airport (approx. $40.00) and then rent a full size car for 10 days for $285.93. The rental is through National. I am picking it up at Sheraton Studios on International Drive. My questios are:

1. Does anyone know the cheapest way to get from Universal to National? I called them and they don't have shuttles. They told me to take the Iride.
2. Can you get the Iride near Universal. How far is it?
3. Anyone have a cheaper car rental rate then this? I dont need the car for Universal but I would like to have it for Disney my entire stay there. I am really not into busses.

Iride is reasonable, but is pretty slow. I would suggest calling Sheraton Studios and seeing if they provide a shuttle between Universal and the hotel and riding this back to the hotel. Check out iridetrolly.com for more information on the iride....

YOu can rent a car at Sheraton Studios from Alamo... OR you can get a van from MEARS to take you to Disney .... it's not so expensive... probably cheaper than a rental car... you can check out their website
