Renting a car at Disneyland.

My friend and I are heading to California in a few weeks for a Disneyland trip. Our Saturday is free, we don't have park passes, and we'd like to rent a car for the day to do some sightseeing (typical tourist-y Los Angeles stuff).

Does anyone have any tips on renting a car for one day? We are staying at Park Vue Inn on Harbor Blvd.

I didn't know if we'd have to Uber to the airport to get a rental... or if they would drop a car off... curious if anyone else has ever done this?

Thank you!

There are car rentals closer by - Alamo, Hertz and Enterprise have locations in the area. When I looked into it before the hours were a bit shorter than the airport but it seems like after hours drop off is possible.
You can also look into Turo as some renters will deliver their car to you.

I used Enterprise in 2018 when we needed a car for couple of days. Short walk down Katella from Candy Cane.

A lot of the car rental locations are in hotels. I remember staying at the Hilton Anaheim, there was an Enterprise counter in

Another possibility is that a rental agency employee can pick you up and/or drop you off. Most "neighborhood" car rental locations can do that. Other than that, sometimes your best rates are going to be at airport locations, so you might look into transportation to/from the airport (probably SNA) for maybe just the one person renting and then driving back to the hotel. It shouldn't be too bad taking the bus to SNA (OCTA 543 and 76).

I'm not exactly sure how it would work for parking. I get that parking is free at Park Vue Inn, but typically that means that they ask for car model and license plate at check-in, but I suppose it could be possible to state that one is going to rent and will need a parking pass later.

Booked a rental car for my upcoming trip in June and the Enterprise north of Disney was $100 cheaper then the one South of Disney. I booked with the one just North of Disney and will call for them to come pick me up at the hotel. If they wont then it is probably like a $15 taxi ride.

Turo is a great option...there are quite a few neighborhood rental locations of various agencies but as other mentioned you need to shop around as well as include taking an Uber to SAN to grab a car as prices can...that can sometime be cheaper and more flexible on timing with local branch hours as prices vary wildly.

Just returning and wanted to add that if you plan to pick up and drop off at SNA or any other airport, the two round trips that someone will have to make to pick up the rental and then return the rental and return to the hotel will really chew into your “free day”. If you can find a local option near the hotel as OPs mentioned above, that will save you a lot time (and potential traffic frustration, worse depending on the time of day you plan to be returning the car to the airport).
