Is having a car with at Christmas time (12/23-12/29) worth it (money is not a factor). We are flying in from NY to MCO, and do not really need a grocery stop, but if we have a car we might :confused3 take advantage of it. Or will we just spend a lot of time walking around parking lots?

We hate taking the buses during the slow times of year, I know we wouldn't be able to deal during the busy time. There are plenty of trams at the parking lots that constantly run, so you won't have to walk far. Plus it is great to have the car if you need to run to the store for some pain meds and bottled water. Save lots of money compared to what they sell at the hotel.

On the contrary, I can't imagine driving all the time while on my vacation, to a destination that does have its own transportation. For those who really want to leave property or cannot stand to wait for a bus it makes sense, but if you are mildly flexible, I think WDW transportation is fine. I drive every other day of the year, it is nice to not have to do so on vacation.

We did Disney buses one day and that was it for us. We had to wait 30 minutes for each bus. Then when we were on the way back to the resort we had to make a stop at blizzard beach and the bus waited there for about 10 minutes. I do not enjoy wasting my vacation time waiting for buses when I could have already been at the park having a good time, or back at the resort taking a nice nap. Driving around the resort is easy and painless and much less stressful than being packed in like cattle on those buses and having someone's behind inyour face. Or holding on for dear life hoping you don't fall over. I guess some people find the buses relaxing, but we sure don't. We just use them for Pleasure Island.

I don't think you can really go wrong either way (if money is not a factor). IMHO, outside of personal preference and going off property, the only real advantage of having a car on property is for going from resort to resort, which a lot of people do during December in order to see all the different decorations.

Options-options-options

Some days we drive Studio, AK, Epcot never to MK.
If we just missed the bus, we hop in the car.

Just my preference.....I do not like waiting around for transportation. We always rent a car, wether staying on-site or off.

Personally I am on vacation and prefer to leave the driving to Disney. The waiting doesn't bother me, nor does the not having to remember where I parked :teeth:

I love having a car - we've always appreciated the grocery store run on the way in from the airport, the ability to go from resort to resort easily for dinner (esp. during holidays) and the non-panic about "what if we need medicine...run out of...., have to get to the airport quickly if something happens to mom"..., etc. Guess it depends on your particular situation.

We like having a car at Disney especially during Christmas week. We like to visit the various resorts and it would be very hard to do that by bus alone. We never drive to the MK though, LOL. We use it for AK and sometimes MGM and traveling to the resorts, getting groceries, driving to Celebration on occasion. We walk to Epcot. Got to love the Beach Club Villas! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
