Renting a car at BC

We are staying at BCV in August and thought this year it might be nice to have a car for a couple days (not consecutive) during our stay. We have never ever rented a car anywhere, ever, so we are very green at this. I have been checking daily and weekly rates from National and Alamo so we can pick up and drop off at the Dolphin. My DH says we should just rent for the day that we want it directly from the BC. Has anyone done this recently? How would you say a one day rental from the lobby would compare (price wise) to getting it directly from the company rental desk at Dolphin? How long would you estimate (time wise) the process takes? TIA for any info!

I don't believe there is one, but we have read multiple places that you can rent a car from the lobby. My fear is that they take all you info and then they go pick one up at the Dolphin and just mark up the price to cover their ends!

There are no car rental companies located at the BC. Not sure where that info came from. The only 'true' onsite places to rent from are Alamo/National at the Dolphin and at the Car Care Center. The CCC will shuttle you to their offices, you have to get yourself to the Dolphin.
There are other car rental companies located in various DTD resorts. For instance, Budget is located at the Doubletree in DTD.

But in the BC lobby? Nope, not that I know of..and I'm there a lot. It's about an 8 min walk over to the Dolphin. I have rented there with extremely good results.
