I'll be renting some of my points to a friend, how does the magic bands work with a renter? Does the renter go onto the disney website and order their own magic bands or is this something I have to do for them since I'll be in control of the reservation.

They will be able to link the reservation for the room and then purchase tickets and link that too to their MDE. From there they will have the option for magic band that will be added to their MDE and can modify it like all the other gets. I just rented points from someone and that's how it was done. She booked the room and dining plan and I booked the park tickets.

We rented points in Jan from David's rentals and we go the information in the mail on how to order our magic bands and I was able to do everything myself through my MDE account (unfortunately they screwed up linking our APs to the bands and had all the numbers mixed up). Hoping our trip in Aug. (first on our own points!!) will go smoother with the bands. Not planning on linking the APs to the bands so hopefully they won't get screwed up again.

To use the advance booking for FP+, you will have to link your tickets/pass to your MDE account.

FYI: Nothing is actually linked to the MagicBands, they only contain a unique band id number. Everything (Room Reservation, Admission, etc.) is linked to your MDE profile. The MagicBand is just the key used to read your MDE profile.

If you don't link your admission to your MDE account, you won't be able to make FP+ reservations.

Back in October I simply put my AP onto my MDE account (and DH and DS's APs) and they were linked up to the MBs, no problem. Once you put them onto your account, they are *there*.

Yes they've had some issues. I hope that you were able to get AP cards as well, so you could just use those? You need the cards anyway for AP discounts and parking if you are staying offsite.

Especially given that you're going 10 solid months after they started having APs linked to MBs (when ours were linked, most CMs didn't even know that it had rolled out yet!) this isn't something I personally would worry about. Especially since it will mess with how you tour the parks by not allowing FP+s.

The reason I worry about it is after spending hours of our Jan trip trying to get the problems worked out and being told that everything was okay - it wasn't. They actually issued me a new AP at City Hall in MK because it was so screwed up and said mine had expired in Jan when in fact it doesn't until Aug. Thankfully had my receipts with me. Even after all of that when my daughter and boyfriend were there alone - my name was still coming up instead of his. I am hoping by going into my MDE account and deactivating the bands that are in there will help and then I will try again.

Thanks for responding, I'm still learning about the magic bands and how they work

We are renting at BCV next month and our bands arrived yesterday.:woohoo:
I was able to log on, link the reservation #, ADRs, customize our bands, etc.
I didn't make an FP+ plans because we aren't visiting parks. It's just a 1 day pre cruise stay but it offered me to enter ticket info and then create FP+ plans. It was pretty simple. Our DVC owner didn't have to do any of it.
