I just bought five days in april for OKW off DVC member. I checked to make sure it is confirmed and disney said they have me registered. Couple of questions I did this because we are thinking of buying and hope this trip will convince. DO you look at non members as trespassers so to speak or are they meant to feel welcome. I was also wondering can we bring our own bike for the bike trails thanks looking forward to visit

Truthfully, how in the world would anyone know you're NOT a member? Many, many members started out the exact same way, renting points to "check out" the resorts and see if the accomodations are something they'd be happy in, along with the "lack" of daily housekeeping.

As far as bringing your own bikes, I can't answer that, since I'm not a "biker", but I have often seen cars with bikes attached to a rack during my stays. Whether they are allowed to actually be "used" on site, my guess is "yes", but I am not positive.

We rented first then bought, I actually had hubby convinced before we arrived for our rental reservation and had a resale in the works!!! Bring the bikes, not sure where you could park them though, you may have to put them back on your rack, but some of the OKW pros could help you with that, having a bike at OKW is perfect depending on how far you are from the pools or the Hospitality House!

timmer59,

Greetings! All visitors are welcome here; as Chuck S said, many folks here showed up "thinking of buying"; and some ended up as owners! So read the FAQ, take a look at some of the existing threads, and ask any remaining questions. One point, however; all non-DVC-owners are required to pay a $2 per question fee - this goes to the "Help keep SSR dues low" fund! (inside joke  )

Regarding bikes - I know I've seen bikers on various paths around the resort, and I've even seen them in DVC promotional material. I'd check with the specific resort, though - just to be safe!

yes you can use your bike on WDW property - boats are a different story....

Welcome to the DIS - we started as renters during our May trip - our room cards had DVC Member on it and we were accorded the same excellent treatment on that trip as we received on our first "actual members who own" trip in November

thanks

In general all will feel welcome. I think there are a handful of DVC members that look down on renters and exchangers but it is not a significant problem overall. Enjoy!

I hope you have a wonderful time. I just hate for anyone (owners or renters) to trash the place or ruin the fun for everyone else.

You will LOVE OKW. We have rented the surrey bike at OKW because it is so much easier to pedal it around there. Much easier than at the BW and not as much foot traffic to contend with. If you ride your own bike around, it's kind of like riding the bike in your own neighborhood.

Morning everyone! Cant believe it , but the sun is actually shining brightly this am , but its Cold out!
Long Long before DVC was even a concept, we used to camp @ Fort Wilderness-before they even had pools!! We used to take our bikes wi us-we road everywhere. This just reminds me of that, in fact-im going to see if I can take my bike on the plane with me-!Have fun!
