I am looking into renting a few weeks via the TUG board and would like some insight into how well it has worked for others and what sort of "contract" that might be used to protect both the renter and me. I am planning to go to Hawaii, and would also like any input on the Kona Coast, Hilton's Bay Club at Waikaloa, Fairfield's Kona Hawaiian Village, the Embassy Vacation Resort Poipu Point Kauai and Kamaole Beach Club on Maui.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

I've rented from TUG members before and all has gone well :thumbsup2 . With one, he had a contract and the others, just a lot of email. TUG members can access the resort database and find recent reviews for the resorts you mention. Let me know if you want information about joining, I think the fee is $10-15/year, maybe.

My sister owns at The Bay Club on the Big Island and loves it. We own at the Westin Ka'anapali on Maui (not on your list, I know) and it's our paradise. I've read good things about Kona Coast.

I hope this helps a little to get your research started.

Where can I find the TUG website? :confused3

Thanks for your help!! :)

Their bulletin board is tugbbs.com -- you should be able to get to their homepage from there.

Timeshare Users Group (TUG) is a wealth of information about timeshares in general. It may be found at www.tug2.net .

Another great resource for general timeshare information is Timesharing Today (TSToday) at www.tstoday.com .

Enjoy!
