Rental payment

I am renting points out for the first time in many years. Curious as to how you all accept payment, and do you all use a rental contract. Thank you.

DVC members who rent their points are required by DVC to use a contract. Many will want full payment to make the reservation.

Rental Contract required.... I accept payments via zelle, pop money, some checks... but they are placed on a hold until cleared.. and never for visits booked within 30 days or less...

also, make sure to spell out any fees the renter will need to pay in case of return checks and or paypal fees and such if you require it.

That may be so technically, but I suspect DVC is saddling a horse they cannot ride. I'm not sure they have any legal standing as to me renting my points to my friends (See where I'm going here?).

Don't get me wrong. I think anybody would be foolish to rent points to strangers without a contract, but to say DVC requires it seems almost as foolish to me. Technically, we aren't allowed to rent our point anyway, at least not as a for-profit venture.

You don't need a crazy long contract if you don't want one.

A contract is an offer, acceptance and consideration (from law school, although apparently there is now a fourth term "agreement")-
I offer $15/point for the reservation;
You accept $15/point for the reservation;
We agree that I pay $15/point for the reservation;
I pay $15/point for the reservation.

Contract is done. Obviously most people like to have additional details about responsibilities, etc., but the four owners I have rented from, that's pretty much the way it went.

But, I know there's a post here or on another board that has a nice sample contract.
