rental home WH..nd cancellation ins??

since were booking 8/2013..during hurricane..our owner suggested rental ins..where do i get this?? is it really worth it...?

You can get renter's insurance from most places that you would get homeowner's insurance. It covers your personal belongings in a rental unit (apt, condo etc.). It is fairly inexpensive especially if you are only going to purchase a policy for a very short period.

The question is how much is the value of the items you are taking and are you willing to go through the effort of documenting (video, photos) what you take with you to prove you had it in case of loss and the process of getting the policy etc.

The home and its furniture etc. are the responsibility of the homeowner, your exposure is limited to the contract you signed and any security deposit.

If you want cancellation insurance for a vacation rental try insuremytrip.com. We usually go through them when we rent. A vacation rental is not like a hotel where you can cancel before 4pm on the day of arrival. Most vacation homes have a no refund cancellation policy within 30 days of arrival and 50% loss beyond 30 days. So if you don't mind losing all your money if you have to cancel last minute then you don't need insurance.

Yes..yes..that's what I need..so I understand I buy it as soon as I put down the 20%...so I tried it and 50 different choices came up..what 1 do u use...??I have a b.aby so I do need it...

I usually just browse through the choices and pick one. We already have a medical plan so I just get cancellation but you can get a package deal if you need it. I only get enough to cover the cost of the house.
