Rental cost for BLT vs. other DVCs?

Do you all think that the per point rental cost at BLT will be more than the rental cost at other in-park villas? If so, do you think it will eventually come down to meet the current villas? What per point cost do you think we'll start to see for BLT? I know that the other villas get about $10-11 per point, right?

Actually $10-$11 may be a bit low.
I would probably look at $10-$13 as the more likely point rental range. As far as BLT goes, you'll probably see points being rented in that range but keep in mind that depending on the room size and view at BLT (assuming the ressie is using BLT points for BLT), the point value may be slightly higher than the same room size at other resorts.

depends upon if enough people looking - looks at redweek.

there are RCI exchanges being offered for sale there.

much less than that a point.

BLT won't be listed - DVC does not allow exchanges to RCI (or II) the first year the resort is open. if you exchange they will just use another resort.

so in 2010 or 2011 expect to see them here, too. If Disney kepts the contract with RCI.

this is illegal with RCI - but until they or DVC enforces it with redweek - expect to see them.

I would assume the point rental cost per point will remain the same (what ever it may be currently as demand dictates). BLT with the point cost per room type/day being higher, you will need to rent more points for a stay at BLT then you would at another resort which will increase the over all cost.

Quick Example: 6 nights in a studio in January staying Sunday - Saturday @ $10 a point (to simplify)
OKW = 60 pts @ $10 = $600
BWV Std 65 pts, Pref = 82 pts @ $10 = $650/$820
SSR = 75 pts @ $10 = $750
WLV = 82 pts @ $10 = $820
BCV = 82 pts @ $10 = $829
AKL Value = 56 pts, Std 64 pts, Savanna = 78 pts, Concierge = 93 pts @ $10 = $560/$640/$780/$930
BLT STD View = 102 pts, LV =121 pts, MK = 139 points @ $10 = $1020/$1210/$1390

As you can see each resort yields different costs based on the same duration and season of stay and with the cost per point to rent being the same; but the point allotments is what differs from resort to resort. That is what will increase the cost to the renter, the total amount of points being rented (needed) to stay at BLT.
----------------------------
After looking at the BLT point chart I have to wonder if anyone will EVER rent out a grand villa for christmas week at BLT with an MK View?
At 1287 points for the week that would be quite a tough sell @ $13,000. One could purchase a 200 point contract resale for that price.

Boston Disney kid - good point!! Looks like it can be almost double what some resorts are!!

Thank you for taking the time to build this list, but now I'm confused - - are you looking at 2009 point charts? I just bought in last month, so I very well could be missing something, but my point charts for 2009 for a studio for a week in January show as follows:

OKW = 80 pts @ $10 = $800
BWV Std 85 pts, Pref = 104 pts @ $10 = $850/$1,040
SSR = 95 pts @ $10 = $950
WLV = 104 pts @ $10 = $1,040
BCV = 104 pts @ $10 = $1,040
AKL Value = 72 pts, Std 83 pts, Savanna = 101 pts, Concierge = 119 pts @ $10 = $720/$830/$1,010/$1,190
BLT STD View = 102 pts, LV =121 pts, MK = 139 points @ $10 = $1020/$1210/$1390

BLT is still definitely a departure from some of the other DVC villas but, using my point charts, it's not really that much (especially considering the premium that Disney charges for the monorail resorts); actually, a week uses more points to stay at WLV and BCV than it does in a standard view at BLT. Am I missing something here??

the point chart for BWV (preferred), BCV, and VWL plus BLT standard view are the same.

even with 2010 = the magic season (summer/spring) and peak (christmas and easter weeks) are little higher - 1 point.

but fall, winter are the same.

Actually $10-$11 may be a bit low.
Right now, today, I'd argue that it's a bit high. Just skimming the list of points for rent here, I see $8-$11, with one outlier at $14. Some of those that are sub-$10 are SSR-only developer points, or distressed. But, not all of them.

Some of the numbers used in the prior post were based on 7 nights and others were based on 6 nights. The correct numbers for 6 nights in a studio in January, 2010 staying Sunday - Saturday @ $10 a point (to simplify) are as follows:
OKW = 61 pts @ $10 = $610
BWV Std 66 pts, Pref = 85 pts @ $10 = $660/$850
SSR = 78 pts @ $10 = $780
WLV = 85 pts @ $10 = $850
BCV = 85 pts @ $10 = $850
AKV Value = 59 pts, Std 66 pts, Savanna = 84 pts, Concierge = 97 pts @ $10 = $590/$660/$840/$970
BLT STD View = 84 pts, LV = 98 pts, MK = 111 points @ $10 = $840/$980/$1110

So BLT is at the high end, but not as different as suggested by the prior post. -- Suzanne

I was going by Caskbills DVC Planner 2010 points for all resorts other than BLT. (I havnt updated in quite some time so maybe the new point chart differs...). If the nunmbers are inaccurate I apologize but that really wasnt the point. The point was that 'each resort has different point allocations and that is what will determine the rental cost, as you rent the number of points required'. Point Rental Cost x Points Required = Total Cost
