Rental cars

We are thinking about possibly renting a minivan and driving down to florida with it because the people we are traveling with do not have a reliable car, and thought we would split the cost and all ride together and save on gas that way also. We would need the car for 11 days and will be renting it in the buffalo/niagara falls area. I cannot find anything less that about 750 for that amount of time for that type of vehicle. Is this a normal price for this type of vehicle? It seems expensive to me and am opting not to do this and just drive our car and have them look for a car themselves, which may be more economical. I did not fit a rental car into the budget, we just bought a new car in march and really dont need to so i was hoping we could find one for slightly cheaper, like less than 500. TYIA.

Dollar has had good deals for vans on their website, don't know about unlimited miles, though.

And, there may be restrictions about leaving your state with them.
