I posted this on the transportation board, but then I decided that the budget board people would be the experts in finding a good rental car deal!

I can't seem to find any vehicles that fit 8 people except full size vans that cost $1000 for the week :scared1: ! All of the minivans and SUV's listed only seat 7. Does anyone know of a car rental place that has 8 passenger minivans or SUV's? Help! I was getting excited about booking my budget August trip, but this is a definite budget buster!

Don't know of many that will have them available and they may be a fortune anyway. I know it is inconvenient but you may be better off with 2 vehicles: like a minivan and midsize car.

Alamo rents out an 8 passenger Toyota Sienna. When you look on their site, you will see a 7 and 8 passenger. As others have said, 2 small cars might be cheaper.

You might look for Surburbans, but I dont know if anyone rents those outside of Texas.

I don't know much about them other than that the specialize in renting out larger vehicles.

If you are staying on property you really do not need a car.

If you are staying off-property, definitely better renting two cars to give yourself flexibility (and so you don't have to worry about herding cats).

I'm taking a large group (11) in 2013 and no matter how I price it renting two vehicles is much cheaper. At first I didn't like the idea but I came to the conclusion this will actually help us. I'm a rope drop kind of person so my vehicle will be leaving at the crack of dawn. Where as my sis is don't wake me before 10AM kind of person. Also if we need to hop in the car and run and get something I think the 2nd vehicle will be great for quick errands during our vacation. As of right now we're probably staying off site.

I looked on Priceline and they are saying that they have Full Size Van and Full Size SUV that sit 8 for the SUV and 12 for the Van. They are around $1000 doing it for a week. I'm with the rest of the people and say you'd be better off getting 2 cars. Everyone will be more comfortable and more the luggage space will be more manageable with everyone. My family is very fond of the priceline name your price deal. They do this for hotels and rentals. The only catch to them is you have to be prepared to give a credit card because if they find a matching deal, your card will be charged. If you do it, don't be scared to do a smaller amount. For hotels, that are 4 star, we put down $50 for a room and sometimes get it. If not, we got up $5 each bid until we get one. We've never had problems getting Hiltons for $50-$65 a night on there. My grandparents and aunt have done the same for rental cars. Maybe you can priceline and name your car for 2 cars and get a heck of a deal. It's worth a try.

Even if you could find an 8 passenger minivan, you're not going to have room for 8 passenger's worth of luggage IMO.
