Hello all
I am trying to find a good rate for a midsize/intermediate or fullsize for my stay the first week in March. The best rate I have found was about $160. I'd like to rent from a company that is actually located in the terminal.

I was wondering if anyone knew of some good websites to search or codes to use to get good rates etc...

Thanks
Ken

I have found that the car rental places in the terminal tend to be more expensive. So it depends on what is more important to you. Thrifty and Payless tend to have the lowest rates but they are off-site and occassioanly get bad reviews. I have rented a mid-size car thru Thrifty for Jan at a rate of $99 a week plus tax. I have decided to take my changes because of the $ I am saving. I hope I dont regret it! Expedia, travelcity and orbitz are great sites to check for deals.

Good Luck

If you can get a membership in National's "Emerald Club" that is generally the best deal. They have information about you on file. You reserve an Intermediate class car. When you get to the airport you do NOT go to the counter but directly to the "Emerald Aisle" in the garage and pick out ANY vehicle in that aisle. This can include things as SUVs, Minivans, Convertibles, etc. You will only be charged for the mid-size you reserved. If there is not much choice on the Emerald Aisle, you can generally go to any of the other aisles and get anything you want. About the only exceptions are Premium/Luxury as the Buick Park Avenue where they will ad $5 or $10 per day. Normally they will not allow Cadillacs. You just show your license and Emerald Club card on the way out.

Alamo used to be off-site of the terminal and we used them in Jan 2002 with good luck. We are using them again in Jan 2004.... they are now in terminal, which is what we needed this time. We will be arriving fairly late on a Friday eve and I don't want to keep the DD(8) and the DS(5) up any later than necessary. Overtired is not a good way to start a busy vacation! When we used Alamo in 01/2002 it was about a 5 minute wait for the shuttle bus, about a 10-15 minute ride to the lot, and about 45 minutes or so to do the paperwork and drive away. Way too long in my estimation!! But the car was clean, worked well, and we have no complaints about that particular time. I will try to remember to post all about our upcoming trip, including rental car info, when we return in late Jan. ANYHOW.... try your local wholesale club, such as BJs.... many of them offer discounts on multiple car rental agencies. And don't be afraid to ask for discounts, even if you don't have a coupon or code. And $160 seems like a great rate to me (is that before or after fees and taxes?). We are paying $203 (total including everything) for a mid-sized 4 door in Jan. And I had to work to get that rate!! Let me know if you find any bargains!!

:earseek: THANK YOU FOR RENTALCODES.COM!!:earseek: Out of curiosity I used it for Alamo, plugged in the dates of our stay in January, and it came up $17 cheaper than the reservation I had!! (And that was after working hard to bring it down already!)I had originally booked with Alamo with a BJs coupon for $219.59.... called the back when I got a better price elsewhere and they lowered their price to $204.32. Then I found another coupon which brought it down to $202.46 (every little bit helps!). I was content with that. But I made a new reservation with a code from rentalcodes. com and that brought it all the way down to $185.07!!! I AM SO HAPPY!! Thanks again for the tip!:goodvibes :chat: :chat: :goodvibes

I have booked Alamo for a minivan for a weekly rate of $199.00 unlimited millage. Use the code MC (way cheep!) Hope this helps.

I was playing around with some different codes gathered from the web...
This is for Alamo online...
For my dates...I used
Rate Code MC
Promo Code 675899
Coupon code D14B ($15 off base rate which shows after you select the vehicle you want)

This gets you a
Midsize $134
Full Size $144
MInivan $184

And then add the tax to these rates....

This is FAR better rate than any other price I was quoted.

I found it on www.rentalcodes.com
and selected Alamo.
It brings up a list of codes and coupn #s
Basically the only one that will not be expired when I go is the one I posted.
