OK ... we have originally booked HIFS saving us $500 over 2 Rooms at POR, BUT ... we then will have to rent a car with six of us we are looking at at least $350 for a large car or minivan PLUS parking ( btw how much is parking at the Theme Parks and do you have to do this if "Park Hopping"? Do you pay at each theme park every day?). We just found out that we can get YouRide to pick us up at the Airport and make a 30minute stop at Publixx for us to get the kids snacks and such and to our hotel and then return us to the Airport for about $90 r/t. If we do decide to do Universal Studios we can get a car to take us for $65 r/t. We still come out cheaper in terms of transportation if we use YouRide over a car rental, but has anyone here used them? Would you recommend them? The savings on the car rental will mean we can stay at the POR or CBR instead of off grounds. I like the convenience of staying On site and no matter how excited I try to get about the HIFS I simply find myself looking longingly back at onsite resorts! LOL My dh is about to wring my neck with all the back and forth ... therefore, I come to you my experienced Disney Fanatics! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! LOL I know that staying at HIFS gives me free bkfst for all and kids eat free through the day, but staying ON property gives me well ... MAGIC! Right? princess:

We have used ******** for our last three trips and have been pleased with the service. We used the 10 passenger van. We always stay on site so we don't have to rent a car. The thought of having to pick up and return the rental car is a big hassel with small children. ******** meets you at the baggage claim area and drops you off right at the curbside check-in area... very convenient! I can't offer any advice on staying offsite. Have you checked to see if there are any discount codes available for Disney hotels? Being on site sure is convenient.

Parking at the WDW parks is $7 per day and you will not be charged a second time if you park hop.

Garage parking at USF/IOA is $8.00 per day. Valet parking is $16.00 per day. There is no need to move your car in order to park hop here. The parks are within walking distance of each other.

If you have APs for either, parking is free, regardless of whether you are staying on or offsite.

A rental car would be more convenient than using Y*O*U*R*R*I*D*E but not more economical. I've never used them and have heard mixed reviews. Check the transportation board for opinions.

As far as staying onsite vs. offsite.....you've got a family of 6 (requires 2 rooms onsite) and will need to feed everyone breakfast for your entire stay. The HIFS comes highly recommended by so many on these boards and their breakfast buffet is reportedly very good. I think you've made a good choice in hotels already.

Crunch your numbers and see what the difference in price will be when you factor everything in. That's the price of *MAGIC*. Only you can determine whether it's worth that price for your family.

Well, after calling back to check out my ressie onsite, I found out our Ressie was POFQ and NOT POR (which I was THRILLED about since POR seemed too serene for my gang! LOL). Turned out even the CM that was talking to me said I managed to get a GREAT RATE, she kept coming up with $2036 and I got it for $1855 and no matter what she did she never come up with anything close to $1855! We will be using our AP's and returning again and THEN going to HIFS, for now, because we will be celebrating so much we will stay onsite! 5th Birthday :earsgirl: 15th Wedding Anniversary :earsboy: Lots of exciting things! We figure since we are going back anyway, renovations will be done at the HIFS and hopefully by then, illness will no longer be an issue with the buffet, etc. Thanks all for your response! I am truly getting excited now! :sunny:
