Rental Car Question

We will be arriving at the Pop on October 18th for an eight night stay. We plan to rent a car for a couple of days to "condo shop". Is there a National Car Rental office in Downtown Disney? Should I pre book a car or take my chances? Any help would be appreciated.

National/Alamo has an office at the Dolphin Hotel and at the Car Care Center near the Polynesian. There are shuttles from the hotels to the Car Care Center.

The shuttle to the Car Care Center is not scheduled, nor is it on demand. You must make advanced arrangements for the shuttle service to the Car Care Center. It's recommended that you make the arrangements the day before you actually need the service.

I am interested in renting a car for 1 night while we are at WDW as well. Do I call the 1-407 w disney number or do I call alamo to arrange for this shuttle pick-up? Or can I just ask at the hotel front desk??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You make arrangements at the front desk of your resort for the transportation to the Car Care Center.

I thought of another question after I posted my last one, lol...
I want to get a totally cheap rate for a small car for just one night while we're there. DH and DS are going to Daytona for a nascar race.
My question is...what Alamo/National counter do I specify if I want to do a priceline or similar kind of bidding place for a good discount. When I was playing around trying to get an idea about pricing it seemed like the rentals came from the airport area. How do I specify I want to pick my car up at DTD or at the car care ctr near Poly??? DOes that make sense?

You cannot specify location when bidding on a Priceline car rental - you would have to take whatever company they gave you if they accepted your bid. And as far as I know, I have never heard of Priceline or Hotwire giving ANY rentals on WDW property.
To get the best rate at the Car Care Center in WDW, you will need to make your reservation online at http://www.nationalcar.com/ (Both Alamo and National are onsite, but National will almost always have better rates). When you go to the website, click on "Location" next to the Pick-Up in the Reserve Now box. Then just click thru - USA - FLorida - Orlando - Walt Disney Car Care Center....
But first check out: http://www.mousesavers.com/rentalcar.html Click on National and read about the various discounts that are available. It's really a very easy process.

As far as priceline with rental cars, I haven't had much luck. I've found that with a good discount code, you can get what you would bid on priceline (sometimes cheaper )
