We're planning our trip for this November and not sure how best to pick a rental car on our last day.

We're going to spend the morning at MK and then need to pickup a rental car so we can head out to Miami in the afternoon. We'll store our luggage (staying at CSR) ;)

Are we better to rent from the Car Care Centre or one of the resorts near MK? I've heard National offers a shuttle but can take a while for them to show up and I want to maximize our time. Also, if we do take the shuttle should we get the car first and then pickup our luggage or go back to CSR and take our luggage on the shuttle, not sure if one is easier than the other. I'm assuming we can checkout in the morning and magic bands and DDP will still work?

Thanks for all your help! :thumbsup2

Any credits on the DDP are available to you the day you check out. Any tickets on the MB remain valid, (note: Non-expiring tickets expire after 14 days).

Disney's solution for rental cars at Disney-operated hotels IS the car care center- there are not rentals available on-site at, say, the Contemporary. For your scenario, I would rent a car from the CCC. If there are multiple adults and only one driver, the driver should walk to the Contemporary from the MK (it's 5 minutes) and catch the shuttle to the CCC and pick up the car. The other adult takes any children on the Disney bus back to CSR and gets the bags from the bellhop. The adult with the car picks up the family @ CSR and everyone goes to Miami.

IF both adults need to be able to drive then the entire family should go to the CCC: the rental company usually needs to see all drivers.

Thanks! : Never thought of splitting up like that, great idea! :thumbsup2

Does the shuttle run continuously to CCC or do you have to arrange it?

How long would you say it would take from the time you leave Mk until 'we're on the road' ?

Thanks a lot!

Our experience was that we called ~ 11 AM to "schedule" the shuttle and were told it was close by and would pick us up at the resort in 20". I think that was just luck. There were 5 people already on the shuttle and it picked up one other after us. Very quick ---- HOWEVER, we had at least a 45" wait at the CCC for National. There were only 2 staff and one person spent over half an hour with one family --- have NO idea what the problem was there, but it took a long time. There was a kiosk, but I couldn't figure out how to use it, so don't even know if that was an option for us (we were renting National, not Alamo).

It was my sense that the shuttle ran pretty continuously, but was going to a variety of resorts all over the property, depending on the needs of the customers, so it could be at AKL with 7 stops already planned when you call. Why don't you call the day before to ask if it's possible for you to request a specific time for pick up.

I have had delays being picked up by the shuttle, uncomfortable long ones. A family needed to be picked up someplace, I didn't understand why, then at the counter the paper work took awhile. I would get the car as early as possible that day and not delay. I was with the family at Epcot and walked to the shuttle pick up there. It was out front of the Lost and Found.

I previously called for a set time, then confirmed as I left Epcot. But it was frustrating wasting park time.
