Hi all! We are planning to pickup a rental car after disembarkation. I wondered how that process was these days. I read that with rental car shortages, the lines sometimes get long. I was curious if that was isolated or common.

Edited to add: Asking about Port Canaveral!! 🤪

Thanks!!

Port canaveral. As long as you have a car reserved very easy. Got off fantasy Saturday and got shuttle right away. For the three car companies there they only had 38 reservations that day. She said very slow. We ordered a large suv and they only had One.

Which company? Budget was bedlam when we rented from them. Super crazy busy with only two desk employees (pre-Covid) and lots of cars they were trying to turn around quickly. We got a totally different kind of car than we had reserved, which wasn't a big deal (reserved compact, got an SUV) but it was super crazy in that office. The shuttle was quick and all told it didn't take too super long, it was just total chaos. I don't know how they kept it all straight.

We use National since we are Emerald/Executive members. We have the reservation already - so that shouldn’t be an issue. But I was curious if they still ran low on cars even with reservations.

We just did this yesterday with Alamo. It was seamless. We had a shuttle waiting right away and no lines. I will add that we were there pretty early. We did express walk off at 7:30 am. No problems at all. Would definitely do it again.

You should be fine as long as you are renting a standard kind of vehicle (compact, standard sedan, etc.) When people have reported issues, it seems to be when they have reserved something special like a convertible or a large SUV. As @Joel0917 reported, they had reserved a large SUV and the agency only had one available, so if you were second in line for that you would either have to wait or take a different and probably smaller vehicle.

Excellent!! We did this last time back in 2019 and it was a bit chaotic but fine. Glad to hear it’s still the same! :)
