Help! I need your transportation advice! We will be checking out of the cabins at Ft. Wilderness. Would like to rent a car on Disney property for the day to visit relatives in the area and then return the car to the Orlando airport that same evening. Will be staying that night at the Hyatt in the airport and leaving on an early morning flight. I know that there are several car rental places on Disney property. Which is closest and easiest to get to from Ft. Wilderness? Also, which car rental companies will let me pick up at Disney and return to airport without a fee? Should I call or try to do it online directly through a car rental site? Another option is for the whole family to take the DME back to the airport to rent a car. Just trying to find the easiest solution. Handling luggage the least number of times and practical pick up. Best case scenario, I will stay at the cabin on checkout morning with our 3 kiddos while hubby (who is geographically challenged) goes to pick up the rental car. So, it needs to be really EASY for him to get there or a car company that will bring the car to us would a good option as well. Thanks in advance!

I'm absolutely no help because I've been wondering something similar; only, if we can pick up at MCO and drop off at Disney! Hope someone can offer a little insight

If you have a portable GPS, pack it! It's worth it's weight in gold! Also, make sure you have cash (change) for sunpass... I would say rent car at WDW and drop off at MCO. The extra time for ME is not really worth it, AND your luggage may end up on an earlier flight or lost. I just wouldn't risk it. IMHO

There is a sticky at the top of this board that lists the car rental locations. On-site, there are Alamo/National locations at the Car Care Center, Dolphin, and Shades of Green. The Car Care Center will pick you up. There may be off-site locations (in the Downtown Disney area) that will pick you up too. I don't have experience with those.

I would check car rental rates online. Go to the car rental rate thread for your month to find codes/coupons to reduce your rate. Check often because rates change frequently. Most rental companies do not charge one way fees from WDW to the airport. Alamo and National have not for my previous rentals. I have seen some one-way drop fees for Dollar, but not always.

Thanks for the info and advice ConnecticutNonna and houseofduck. Hopefully this is helpful to you, too, Mur! Disney Car Care Center is looking like the best pickup location. I'll check the other threads that you mentioned as well.
