We're going in mid January. DH is going for business and they will pay for his tranfers ($29) but not a rental car. If we go with 2 adults and 2 kids it will cost 1X29 + 2X21 = $71 since DH's is paid for. However, I can rent an economy class car through Enterprise for the 4 days using an entertainment discount for $51 total. Is this a better deal? This appears to be bottom line, although I've read they try to gouge you on the add ons. We'd just say no politely to everything!

Would this be more convenient? I know we have to go off airport, but Mears you'd have to go to other hotels for dropoffs/pickups and have to leave 3+ hours early which I'm sure would be enough to drop the car off. Plus we'd have the car for both of us - in case DH needed it for business, to meet us at a park in the evening, to run to DD or for groceries, etc. We're only doing Disney so I know it's not a necessity, but what would you do? Also, any advice on Enterprise?

Thanks!

My vote would be for the rental car.

I bet you can get an even better rate from an on site rental agency. What are your exact dates? Deals are there to be found for January.

We'll be there Jan 17th (noon) until the 20th (6pm). Let me know if you find anything better - I'd appreciate it!

On Orbitz, I am getting an after-tax quote for Enterprise of $67 for your times and dates, while for a few dollars more you can rent on-site from L&M for $71 (I have heard very good reports about L&M). This is for an economy car. $96 gets you a mid-size car from L&M or Thrifty. All of these options will be more convenient that the Mears bus with mutliple stops. The question becomes, will the 4 of you and your luggage fit comfortably in an itty bitty Daewoo Lanos?

If they will credit you $29 in vouchers, why not apply that to a town car. You can get a town car for less than $100. Your DH can get $29 credit from his company. Net cost then is less than $71, and you get door to door service. I would check into this option way, way, way better than Mears.

When ever I go on Mears, there is one stop and it's a very comfortable bus ro shuttle. Why bother renting a car? It's fun talking to the people in the bus/shuttle you can even meet a travel buddy.

We ALWAYS rent a car. We feel our time is more valuable than the few dollars we'd save by taking Mears or another transportation service. We save the difference by going offsite to a grocery store to buy our soda/snacks. We also like to drive to all the parks, but MK, as we are early birds and always seem to park closer than the bus stops are at the parks. Sure is nice to not wait around for busses. Also great if you like to spend time at DD, as the bus times can be quite lengthy going to/from.
