Rental Car Help

I have never in my life rented a car and was hoping you might can help me. We are flying into Sanford for our Disney Vacation and have decided the best option is to rent a car.

Now for the questions..... Should I rent one now... 4 months in advance? Or should I wait until I get there. Also, who should I rent from?

I would reserve one now so you make sure you get what you want. Check on mousesavers.com for discount codes. When we decided to go to FL last October I reserved my minivan then. At the time the cost was about $800 for the two weeks. As of yesterday I have it down to $431 for the two weeks and will keep checking for more discounts.

I agree. If you are using Car Rental websites directly (some travel sites too, just be sure), you can cancel and rebook at lower prices as many times as you need to with no penalty. For our last trip, I think I had 5 cars booked at once!

When you do this...like rent a car now and then a new code comes open... do you cancel your orginal reservation or are you able to open the reservation up and apply the new code?

What I did was find a car I wanted at a half decent price. I reserved that car. Then I would search for lower prices, using a new reservation. If I found a lower price, I would reserve that car/price. Then I would go back and cancel the previous, higher priced reservation. I wouldn't mess with your current reservation, just in case. It's just as easy to create a new one to find a lower price. I probably did it about 10 times for our trip this past Feb/Mar. Find the lower price, reserve, then cancel the old one. And, no they don't even ask for your credit card when you reserve. They only require it upon check in. So reserve away! No cost involved.

Good luck finding a good price!! I had pretty good luck with Alamo and a BJ's coupon code.

You have to pay with an AmEx; however, as you can see the savings were nothing to write home about....$228.33 with BJ's vs $215.82 with AmEx...SUV for 1 week. (of course, any $13 savings helps in DW!)

Ahhh, No AmEx for me. I'll have to stick with paying the extra with my BJ's coupons! LOL You are right, not a big savings, but any savings is good and means extra Dole Whips! LOL Thanks Ruby!

Yes. We fly out of Knoxville and got in on the $39.00 each way! I was so excited. We go in October.
