Rental Car from Disney Resorts to Port of Miami

I hoping someone can help me. Due to the discount codes that came out today, we were thinking about stopping by the World for a few days on our way to our cruise at the Port of Miami. Can I get a rental car from one of the resorts? I know Alamo is at the car care center, but I called them and they will not allow me to just drive the car to Port of Miami and drop it off. Are there other rental agencies that will pick us up at the resort and take us to get a rental car that we can drive to the Port of Miami and just drop off there? We really only need to rent this car to get from Disney to the Port, maybe a few hours?

I don't know who you talked to at Alamo, but under Florida Law any rental car picked up in Florida may be dropped at any location of the same company anywhere else in Florida and there are no drop-off charges.

I don't think this is true, at least anymore. I researched this long and hard (we leave Wednesday for WDW, Friday for a cruise out of POM). All the rental car companies either told me no or had a HUGE drop off fee... except Alamo.

I will post all my research in a little bit - I have to get things settled for the night and I will return.

There is a Hertz on Irlo Bronson Memorial that offers pickup/cab reibursement if you are within a 15 minute range and Hertz does alot of one ways. Also there are some other Hertz locations in downtown disney area too. When you call to get a rate if the rate they qoute you is unlimited mileage ask if there is a limited mileage rate that can bring it down. For a limited mileage daily rate they usually give you 150 miles and it can drop the rate considerably. Hope this helps!

I'm kicking myself - I tossed my notes because I thought I didn't need them anymore. I can tell you that the only company that I found that would allow MCO-MIA with decent rates and no crazy high ($150) dropoff fee was Alamo. You can book it online and pick the WDW Car Center as your pick up and MIA as the dropoff. I know that it was cheaper to do it from the Alamo at the airport though so you may want to consider taking the Magical Express back to the airport first.

Use Contract I.D. 7013993 and use a Mastercard to get the best rate for this situation.

I wish you the best of luck. In the end, we decided to take an early flight because it was $100 each (so $200 total) versus $100 car, $30 gas and $18 tolls. I still have the Alamo reservation just in case the flight gets canceled or delayed too late.

Could you take the Disney transportation back to the airport?

We rented a car last Nov near the POM to drive back to Ft Lauderdale airport. The rental place was pretty far from the port. I was not in charge of the rental and so don't know if there was a closer option but be sure you ask the rental company how far the cab ride will be to the port. Ours was over the bridge about 15 min.

This might sound crazy but I would also check airfare from MCO to MIA. It might be about the same amount of time but less $$?
