Rental car for 1 day side trip

We'll be at WDW from 2-11 Sept - so 9 nights!! We want to rent a car, preferably a van as there will be 6 of us and take a trip out to KSC. We'll be at AKL, any suggestions for best deals on a 1 day rental? Will they deliver the car to the resort or do I have to go to the rental agency (wherever that is) to pick it up? Should I book it now or just do it while I'm there? Suggestions anyone.

Alamo has locations at The Dolphin and at the Care Care Center in WDW. Dollar has a location at the Grosvenor (right near DTD) and I think Hertz has a location at the Hilton in DTD. There may also be some Enterprise locations nearby. I've heard the Care care Center has a shuttle, and I think Enterprise offers drop off/pick up service. What you need to keep in mind with these satellite car rental places is their hours of operation, and you're 24 hour window. (this is especially true if you're dealing with a Sunday, in any part of your 24 hours) I would suggest you plan to Pick up the car at 10AM, head over the coast, and then return it by 10AM the next morning. You will need to check the websites and check out mousesavers for codes. We've used Dollar at the Grosvenor and it's been effortless. If you chose to do this, you would take the bus from AKL to DTD, walk to the Grovenor, pick up the car and on your return, drop it back at the Grosvenor, and walk to DTD and take the bus back to AKL. You could pick it up the afternoon/ evening before and plan an early departure to KSC, but again, make sure you return in time to have it checked back in. I thing the Dolphin ALamo closes at 4PM and some of the others may close at 6 or 8PM.
