Does anyone know which car rental companies can provide car seats (for a 2 1/2 year old) and approximately how much the charge is? Thanks.

If I am not mistaken you can rent childrens car seats from any of the major rental agencies. I am not sure of the cost though. Never used them. You may be able to find this out via their webpages.

There is a place on mcccoy road called Kids In Safty Seats the rent all kind ages and sizes:D

If at all possible, personally I would bring my own. That said, I think most, if not all major car rental agencies will rent child seats, but you must be renting a vehicle from them also. I have heard the cost ranging anywhere from $4.00 - $10.00 per day, some also have a max. amount they will charge you if it is a longer rental. I would check with the agency you have in mind, either on their website or call them.

I know the National ones are junky, dirty, hard plastic. Bring your own.

I called Avis - their car seats are Evenflo brand, but she didn't know the type or model. Just call the #800 of the rental car agency and ask them for information about the seats.

Just used Avis, and it was $5 a day. The car seats were clean and new. We just needed the car seats to get from MCO to port canaveral for the Magic cruise, and then back to TPA< so it wasn't worth it for us to lug a big car seat around.

We just came back last night. We rented two minivans from Dollar. We had taken our own car seats but the vans were equipped with the built in car seats that you can use if your child is a certain size. I don't remember the weight limits. Our kids were 2 & 4 and we did use the built in seats some.

We rented from a local Orlando company A Baby's Best Friend..not car seats but crib and potty chair...they were incredibly clean and the owners were very helpful...they do rent car/booster seats and deliver them to the airport for you..I don't have the phone number, but the website is www.abbf.com....I thought they were wonderful and don't hesitate to recommend them.

The problem with using a rented carseat is you do not know the seat's history. If a carseat has been in an accident, even a minor one, it should not be used again. The plastic and the straps could be compromised from the impact and the strain of the accident (same reasoning applies for buying used carseats). I feel much more comfortable lugging my seat through airports and knowing that it's safe for my child. Just something else to consider.

I agree with lindaso. I know many people consider it one more thing to haul through the airport, but I think it is an important thing. I know where our seat has been and it's history, with rental seats it is hit and miss. You could get a brand new one, or you could get one that is older and not very nice. We also use ours on the airplane, where, again many people don't.
