Hi -
We'll need a rental car for our June trip (not just visiting DL, seeing family, etc) and wondered if anyone had opinions about which rental car agencies were good/bad? Has anyone had great or terrible experiences?
We're flying into LAX mid-afternoon on a Saturday.
Thanks!

I rent a lot in a lot of different cities. The only bad experience I've had is with Budget and that was in Oakland, CA. It was so bad that I will never rent with Budget again, anywhere. I mostly rent with National, got a free club membership from mousesavers.com. They are affiliated with Alamo and sometimes I'll rent through them if the price is better than National.

In LAX I've used National and Avis. But I only used Avis because I bid on priceline and that's the company I ended up with. I've also had experience with Hertz and Thrifty. As stated before I keep going back to National, mostly because I can usually find the best rate with them or Alamo, and I've never had a bad experience yet.

Check out mousesavers for tons of information on discount codes. Price out all the available agencies, then also look at hotwire and see if you can get a better deal. I've found that rates drop about 2 weeks ahead of your rental, so keep checking. If you find a lower rate, make a new reservation with the lower rate then cancel your original.

I've rented from just about any major company in various locations and have never had an issue. Recently, I started bidding on priceline and saving a bundle on my rentals!

only ever used Alamo over there
never had a problem at all with them
situated on Aviation Blvd just away from LAX
