We need a rental car out of Hartford, CT....best way to get it cheap?? The problem is, I want something larger. Upon looking-their "midsize" car is a nissan sentra!!! I drive a suburban! LOL! So-help me out here, budget people!

What are your dates? Depending on how far out you need it there might not be many coupons/discounts yet.

And are you getting it at Bradley? Or in Hartford proper?

Over Easter weekend. Pick up Friday morning, return Monday morning. Preferably in-terminal at Bradley.

I just got an amazing rate through National car rental! Orginally had booked thru Hertz (off site) and the best I could find was $278 for a full-size. After seeing a National code over on the transport board I tried National.....$155 for the same car, same dates, PLUS I get to keep the car about 9 hours extra

If you go to the National car website they have a few of their own coupons. I used one for $30 (I beleive) off a weekly rental, but they had some weekend specials I think

I searched all over for our trip in May for a 10 day car rental. The cheapest ban was actually through BJ's Wholesale- if you are a member. No other wesbite and coupon combinations were cheaper. Once I had the least possible cost, I booked it.

In the meantime I continue to try to bid on Priceline.com on a name my own price. I tried for weeks bidding lower that the cost of the BJ's price. No success. Iam now 6 weeks away and was able to get a car for $68.00 less in total for 10 days! You just need to be persistant and do you homework on the best rate. I then cancelled my other reservation.

I was always skeptical of the name your own price but I did this for a hotel room the night before the cruise and got a 4 star hotel for $49.00! you can sometimes get a good bargain.

GOOD LUCK:wizard:

If the location you are reviewing has Emerald Aisle, you can join the Emerald Club. Then you can book a mid-size but take any car from the Emerald Aisle. It's still a crap shoot, but they often have some larger cars on there. With gas being high, they might actually have more right now. Just realize you MAY still get a mid-size car (and those are not that big). Most times I do get Impalas, Malibus, PT Cruiser, etc. In MCO the one trip they had 2 suburbans & a couple Chrysler wagon-type vehicles. You just never know.
