Rent Points through friend or website for December?

It will be tough to switch to BCV at 7 months out as it is a small resort and studios will be booked. That said, your friends would more than likely be able to switch to OKW or perhaps both of you can switch to SSR at 7 months and put travel with on each of your reservations. Good luck.

But any switching would have to be done by the friends who own the points, not you or your friends who are staying at BCV.

Okay, follow up question. My friend has officially booked us at OKW Dec 5-12. The friends we’re going with ended up being booked at BCV (apparently their friends own at both SSR and BCV and are letting them use BCV points). Do we even stand a chance of being able to switch to BCV or BWV at the 7 month mark? It’s obviously not the end of the world if we can’t switch and end up staying at OKW but is there any hope on being able to switch?

Virtually no chance of you switching to BCV at 7 months. The first week of December is the busiest week for DVC. BCV is a small resort. There may be a small chance they could switch to OKW, or both of you could switch to SSR, but the DVC members whose points are being used would have to do it the day the 7 month window opens to have any chance at all of making it happen.

Zero chance of switching to either as a studio.

Thanks everyone. So we’ll just plan on staying at OKW (but still have our owner friend check at 7 months in case a miracle happens). We’ll definitely have our friends keep their 1 bedroom at Beach Club so we have a “home base” closer to the parks to get back to if any of the kids (or adults!) need a break.

OKW is one of our favorite places to stay. The rooms are bigger, the points are less, it is easy to get around, they have a good amount of activities, boat ride to Disney Springs, Themed pools and quiet pools very close by, Olivia's, decent quick serve, and a good general store/gift shop.

All in all, I would love to book here every year if I could. (We are SSR and AKV)

My family is going to WDW with two other families. We wanted to stay at BCV, but none of us own there. We all ended up renting points from BCV owners so that we could stay there. Have you thought about this? I don't know what rate your friend gave you, but you can usually rent BCV for $14-$16 per point depending on the owner. Then again, if your friend rented to you for a huge discount, well that throws that out the window. ;) Also, if your friend had to borrow points for your reservation, then you shouldn't change it as borrowing is a final transaction.

Be aware that you will not be allowed to use the BC pools. BC is the strictest about checking bands and wildcat guests.

We got our points for less than $14/point, which is the cheapest I’m seeing on any of the sites I’ve looked at. And they have enough points for roughly 4 trips a year (they currently have about 600 points to use between normal yearly and banked), which they’re no longer doing, so I’m fairly sure they didn’t have to borrow any. We originally were going to rent through a site but my friend offered to rent to us when I was asking him about what he knew about renting and gave us a deal. The only reason my DH agreed to renting dvc is that we got a studio for less than a standard at Pop, plus can still get the dining plan even with getting our (much discounted) tickets through DH’s work. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Sadly, I know. Not going to lie, it’s the one pool where I’d be tempted to break the no hopping rule (IF they didn’t check bands) but still obviously won’t. This is only my friends’ second trip (they stayed at Pop almost 9 years ago and their sil did the planning) and I’m soooooo jealous they get to stay at BCV and they have no idea the awesomeness they lucked into!
