I heard Indina Menzel this morning on the radio here in NYC and she said she didn't think she had a chance at playing Maureen in the movie as it was originally going to Brittany Murphy! I was really surprised. My dd said she heard Brittany sing once and she was really good, but Indina is fantastic.
So glad they went with most of the original cast, and I think Rosario Dawson did a great job. They were also talking about how Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilara were supposed to be the other leads in the film.
