Rent double, or have 3 kids share one stroller?

That is my dilemna for our trip in two weeks. Kids are 5,5, almost 4.

I was originally planning on renting a double, and either a) have 2 kids ride, while other walks (they'd take turns) or b) have all 3 kids ride in the double together (we did that last year, and it worked--however the kids are obviously a bit bigger this year, so I'm not sure if it will still work).

So, that was my plan. Then I read on Dis that you can buy a lightweight stroller at WDW for about $40. I vaguely remember seeing them last year, but didn't pay any attention. Buying it would be cheaper than renting even a single stroller, and the plus would be that we'd have a stroller to push to the bus stops just in case my 3 year old is wiped out at the end of the day.

Now I'm not sure what to do. If we buy the lightweight stroller, my son will mostly be in it--although he can walk a bit for the twins to take turns riding. The plus is it's way,way cheaper than renting a double; the downside is I'm not sure how my twins will do mostly walking. They are used to walking a lot here, but of course WDW is different. The double would be the most convenient, but I hate the thought of shelling out over $100 just for a stroller--that my 5 year olds might possibly not even use that much.

Thoughts???? Should I shell out the big bucks for the double, or just buy the single??

Just a thought...why not buy one of the $40 strollers at disney for your 3yo to start. See how the 5yo's do and if the walking is too much buy another $40 stroller so you would have another for the two 5yo's to share. That would still be cheaper than renting one for the week i think. This would only work of course if you have another to help push two strollers & if your 5yo's are not too big for it. In the end if you can't take them with you...spread some pixie dust :wizard: and leave them for other families to use. I always hated renting strollers. I feel like I have nothing to show for the $$$ spent.

We have one of the $40 ones from disney we pruchased in '05 for my 3yo and used it again this year for our 4 & 6 yo's. They took turns in it as well. It was easy to push and the handles are a great height even for my husband.
My 6yo was almost too big (especially long) for it but it helped when we needed to hurry to get somewhere and he couldn't keep up. He also didn't use it for long periods of time so the weight wasn't an issue. It held up fine and should last us one more trip for our youngest.

What ever you decide have a great trip!

Maybe you can check out craigslist in your area for a nice single or double stroller at a good price. The strollers at WDW for $40 seem nice, but I think the canopy offers no protection from sun or rain, so you may want to look around at selection out of the world for the same/less $$. If you are flying, it is great to have a stroller in the airport to keep track of kids and carryon bags and is easy to gate check.

We went to Disney last Sept with a 5 yo, and 3 yo twins, and had purchased a double umbrella from Walmart for about $60. We checked it at the airport, and used it the entire trip. The thing we found was our oldest got really tired (it was hot while we were there) I wish we would have picked up a cheap umbrella stroller for him because we ended up renting a stroller almost every day. You could also look into renting from a company while you are in Orlando. Google baby gear rentals and you should be able to find places to rent.

I second the motion to buy a cheap double stroller here, either on craigslist, ebay, or Walmart or something. The umbrella ones can be inexpensive. ($80 for the Jeep brand) This way you have the convenience of using it for kids and/or stuff in the airport too.

You can always put it on craigslist when you get back!
