I'm not quite sure if you can rent cell phones or not, but you can rent walkie-talkies/radios from various locations around Orlando. Is this what you're looking for?

Don't know about renting a cell phone but if you don't have a cell phone, you can do what my in-laws have been doing. They are buying prepaid service. I believe they got the phone for free and they just buy a certain amount when needed. It has worked out great for them since they don't use a cell phone often. Just a thought.

We used a Tracfone (prepaid cell phone that came for free when we bought a 60-minute airtime card with 2 months of activation time). Cost was only $25. Plus if you can get someone to refer you (their "tell-a-friend" promotion, let me know if you need help with this...), you each both get an extra 60 minutes! No extra charges, no monthly fees--a pretty good deal. And the best part is you only hear your own conversation, you don't have to hear everyone else's as you sometimes do w/2-way radios.

Thanks dj2

it sounds great !! exactly what i need, so please :

Where can i buy ? Walmart ?

Can i use even i am non resident (USA) ?

Tks

They do sell the phones in Wal-Mart and other common U.S. stores, but I'd recommend getting the free "reconditioned" one that comes with the 60 minute card ($24.99) instead.

You can look at tracfone's web site: www.tracfone.com for more information. There's probably a phone number on the site, too, and I'd recommend calling them to have all your questions answered--the distinction between prepaid minutes and activation time might be confusing to some, and different model phones work better in different parts of the country.

60 extra minutes can be had upon activation if you've been "referred" by a friend (see promotion details on their web site). That just means that an existing customer tells them your e-mail address and tracfone then e-mails you an offer for you to redeem. If you don't know anyone who can do this for you, send me a message and I'll try to help you.

I don't work for tracfone, and I'm not trying to convince you to purchase anything--just sharing a good deal that i found that worked for us on our last trip (June 2003). once you own one phone, you can "refer" your spouse, etc. and rack up extra minutes.

Enjoy your trip!

Prepaid might not work for int'l calls.

I use a prepaid cell as my regular cell phone (I don't use phones often; this is only for travel and emergencies), mine is from Virgin Mobile, which has the best per-minute price by far, no roaming charges, and really cheap IM for a prepaid. (Last I heard, Tracfone didn't offer IM, but that could be out-of-date info.)

Just so you know, in the US, prepaid cell phones are not really good for int'l calling. The per-minute and access charges are VERY steep, when access is available at all.

If you are going to be phoning home, just buy a regular landline calling card at someplace like Wal-Mart. Those are less than 3 cents per minute for domestic calls, about 15 cents per minute for int'l (to S. America, anyway.) The access is an 800 number, so you can use any payphone or your hotel phone to access that for little or nothing.

BTW, if you are going to buy a prepaid mobile, I'd order it online a few days before you leave home, and have it delivered care
of your hotel. They should not have an issue with holding the package for you for a couple of days if you call and let them know.
