hi everyone,we will be visiting rpr in july for 7 days, we are only planning on leaving the resort area maybe twice to go shopping eat something different or miniature golf or something like that would we be better off with the i trolley. how much would a taxi be for a family of 5 and where would u take the taxi to. thanks

The I-Trolly pick up point is far away across the street from the parking garage on Kirkman road. Walking to I-Drive will take 30 minutes and a few have reported it's not a fun walk.
It's really a toss up if you are only going off site 2 times and staying for a week.
The rental car would give you freedom to go anywhere you want, when you want. The hotel would charge you $12 to park each night if you get the rental car from the start.
Look into getting the rental car after you arrive. I know the PHB has a rental car office onsite. You might avoid the parking charge that way, because it's the front desk that asks if you drove your own car. The guard at the gate will let you in when you say you're staying there.
A few people who are staying for an entire week plan on calling the hotel to see if they can get the parking fee reduced. If they can, then I'd rent the car for the entire time. Otherwise, go with a taxi or limo service.

am i understanding correctly, i can take a cab to international drive and then do i get the trolley. or can u just walk up & down international drive and also are there good restaurants there. thanks

Theres a taxi fare estimator at www.mearstransportation.com that will give you a quote. A trip from RPR to, lets say, Wet n Wild is about $6.00. From there you can easily walk the Drive or hop on the trolley.

When I visit RPR, I usually leave the property on only 1 or 2 occasions so the cab fare is really not that bad.

Hope this helps.:cutie:

thanks for they great information. i think the taxi is the way to go, will they let 5 people in one car. thanks

You might have to call for a taxi instead of just grabbing one that's waiting out in front of your hotel. The taxi companys DO have vans. Just tell them you need transportation for 5. Definitely go with the taxi idea to visit I-drive. You DON'T want to have to mess with the traffic over there! Plus, there really aren't many free areas for parking. You may find the trolleys passing you by because they are full too. We were there during July and it was really frustrating to wait at the stop in the heat, only to have the right trolley (they do have several different color/destination ones) pass right by you because it's full. They actually had people standing in them too!! Oh, we also decided just to catch a trolley and do a roundtrip tour of the drive. They actually make you get off at the end of the road and line up for another trolley! (this may have been because the driver was going off shift for lunch, but we had to wait a while for the next one. Just remember also, when wanting to catch a taxi back to the hotel, plan ahead a little. You have to call from a "permanent" address such as a restaurant or hotel. They WILL NOT send a taxi for you if you're using a cell phone. (we thought that was ridiculous!) We ended up going to a random hotel lobby on I-drive so dh could use their lobby phone to call. Then we just waited out in front of that hotel.
